Thanks so much for watching ❤

They were hooked on Phoenics.

Phoenicians, the Amazon of yesterday.

It’s so refreshing to hear an actual human narrating…big appreciation from me 😊❤️🥰

Considering that Sumer and Akkad traded with Harappa (Indian subcontinent) via Dilmun, ancient trade routes could go very far. They were sourcing precious lapis lazuli from the foothills of the Hindu Kush. The Ancient Greeks even knew about one river in what is Vietnam today. They knew about it due to secondhand knowledge through trade partners in the Indian subcontinent.

This is the seas powers v continental powers hypothesis

This is the channel that explains why history matters now, and that's why I come here.

You ignored how the Spanish Empire functioned . It created the first globalized network from the Philippines (Chinese and Oriental goods) to the Americas (all of it discovers by them) and Europe. The Spanish silver coin was the most powerfully coin for 300 years. They settled more territories creating institutions like universities (60) , hospitals and many other infrastructure that the Dutch nor the British ever built in their colonies where they only spoiled them. There were no famines in Spanish territories for 300 years while in Europe only in the 18th century there were 8 and 28 years of hunger.

The Cedar of Lebanon is depicted on the country's flag.

Carthage = Qart Hadasht = New City
Napoli = Nea Polis = New City

The videos just keep getting better! Thanks much mate.

Actually, the Phoenicians didn’t invent or started Tyrian purple manufacturing. Recent archaeological excavations off an island close to Crete showed the more ancient Minoans had a much earlier snail/purple dye manufacturing facility built.

I so appreciate the way you make the things from so long ago pertinent to today.  Thanks!

The Dutch welcomed all peoples, which is why they prospered. When William of Orange became king of England, he brought all that talent with him, especially Jews.

Regarding your question of whether the Phoenicians ever existed:

Carthage wasn't an "ethnic" entity, we know now, but what you described here - so it's likewise quite possible that the rest of "Phoenicia" was also a mix of ethnicities; rather than a single population: it might have been a mix of people conveniently gathering where prosperity grew.

Has anyone else noticed when he dies these a large part of history, when things are grand is a result of Rome type of new tool being exploited. That can be boats writing etc.and it often last as long as it stayed decentralized. Once it becomes subject of authority and gets centralized for the power to be exploited it holds it becomes a empire and as always that means it's end has already began. The cycles of empire always prevail with a collapse.

Good research & explanation.  Thanks!

I strongly suspect that 'Phoenecia' was originally a 'Minoan' colonial area that continued after the Thera eruption that very negatively affected Crete. Continuity of trade and trade routes. Prior to Thera, Crete was the center of eastern mediteranian trade. I also suspect that the Mycenaeans began as a Minoan trading colony. Countries did not exist, only spheres of influence.
History is about influence bubbles expanding and affecting other bubbles.

3:00 "straight and durable"
yes and more importantly a sap wood that is resistant to mold mildew and all manner of bugs

With the British you missed something: reliable navigation 😊 That would be Mr Harrison and his sea clock to calculate longitude

Thanks for the enlightenment, i had heard of the Phoenicians but never truly knew even this much about them
