Monster album. Great Choice.
Another good one by Ministry is: "The mind is a terrible thing to taste".

The Mind Is a Terrible Thing To Taste will always be my go to for Ministry. Some consider it "one of the great works of industrial music"

You have to understand that when this came out, we listened to it in cars with custom stereo systems designed so people two cars over could understand the lyrics even with our windows rolled up. Volume was never an issue. And if you had the premium bass system, everyone in the car tried not to pass out from the violent movement of air while the double bass drum rocked.

I've seen your reactions come through my feed, but this one... It's honestly heartwarming to see someone hear Ministry for the first time and actually really get it. Subscribed.

Al is a Cuban American.  He got his start in pop music and helped to popularize industrial along with skinny puppy in the 80's.

Aleister Crowley, a British occultist in the late 1800's and early 1900's, wrote a book called "The Book of Lies". Within it, the chapter, or "psalm" if you will, number 69 has the subtitle "The way to succeed, and the way to suck eggs". The chapter is also entitled "Kappa-Epsilon-Phi-Alpha-Lambda-Eta Xi-Theta", which Ministry also borrowed as the name of their record.

RIP Mike Scaccia, this dude was unhinged guitarist. Before Ministry he played in thrash metal band called Rigor Mortis. He died ONSTAGE from heart attack, that is insane.

There is a Ministry side band with Jello Biafra (singer from the Dead Kenndys) called LARD.  I suggest thier 1990 "The Last Temptation of Reid".

Great pick. You gotta listen to The Land of Rape and Honey. Their best.

I'm a long time Ministry fan.  First time I heard them was when I saw their live album "Just In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up", in cassette form, on the dash of my friend's El Camino in high school (around 92) and asking him, "Are they any good?"  He loaned me the cassette.

The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste and Psalm 69 are probably my favorite overall albums, with other releases having their own highlights.  With Sympathy (their first one) is completely different, but worth a listen to see how Al changed things up.

Was laughing so hard at your initial reaction to Jesus Built My Hotrod.  Confusion is often a reaction that song gets.

Also, I always felt Scarecrow was a shockingly slow song after the previous couple of thrashy/speedmetal songs.  And I feel it has an ominous feel, which I'm sure Al intended.

EDIT:  Al Jourgensen and Ministry have not been shy about their feelings on politics.  Their newer albums address this quite a bit, so if you're interested in "what they think", they tell you in those.

I believe the full title of this 1992 album by Ministry was - "Psalm 69: The way to succeed and the way to suck eggs"... It became Ministry's most successful album, selling platinum (1 million copies) by 1995, charting at 27 in the US (#54 in Australia) ... w/ 3 music videos - "N.W.O." ... "Just one fix" ... and "Jesus built my hotrod" (feat. Gibby Haynes of Butthole Surfers)
The line-up on the record was mainly Al Jourgensen (lead vocals/ guitar/ keyboards) & Paul Barker (bass/ programming)... w/ (the late) Mike Scaccia (guitar) and Louis Svitek (guitar), William Rieflin (drums) + Michael Balch & Howie Beno (programming)

Ministry had built a significant following w/ the albums "The land of rape and honey" (1988) and "The mind is a terrible thing to taste" (1989)... both records selling gold in the US by the mid-90's.

However, Ministry did not return w/ new music until 1996... the album "Filth Pig"... and it was a different Ministry record and failed commercially, despite charting at #19 in the US... Ministry followed it up w/ "Dark side of the Spoon" (1999) and it failed commercially... A tour was canceled because of a line-up shake up and Ministry was absent from touring for years... The band was dropped by label Warner Bros. by 2001.

After their next album "Animosititsomina" (2002), longtime bassist Paul Barker quit Ministry... However, Al Jourgensen and Ministry experienced a career upswing w/ the album "Houses of the Mole" (2004)... and made the anti-W. Bush political record a trilogy w/ the follow-up albums "Rio Grande Blood" (2006) and "The Last Sucker" (2007)... I also really enjoyed the live album by Ministry - "Adios... puta madre" from 2009.

Saw Ministry on Lollapalooza in 1992 touring with this album. Imagine going from Ice Cube to this to RHCP to finish the night. Just a wild show.

YES! I love this album and have had it since it came out. I hope you enjoy!

One of my favorite album of all time.

One of my favorite albums during my 90s teenage years; I remember my 17th birthday at a friend's house while his grandmother was asleep—we were all wasted, moshing to the whole album in the living room, kicking the furniture, and even tossing a friend out the window, hahaha.

I had heard of Ministry but wasn't really familiar with their music before seeing them on the Lollapalooza tour in 1992. They were awesome and probably the best band I saw over those two days.

The first thing I did after getting home was to go out and buy this album and it's still one of my favorites.

You definitely want to check out Lard

TV II Made me so happy the first time i heard it - it is still my favourite.

I just saw ministry in concert a few days ago at red rocks amphitheater.  It was great.
