Vocal coach and metal vocalist, Mary Z brings another reaction video to the Voicehacks channel! Today we'll be taking a look at the pleasantly surprising vocals of Leprous' Einar Solberg. I listen to the song "Below" for the first time and give my impressions on it as both a voice teacher and vocalist. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and recommendations!!

“Slave” is great and all, but “Distant Bells is where it’s at.

The incredible thing is that he sounds JUST as good live.

If you're interested in checking Leprous out again, there is a song on their newest album where Einar basically employs the full extent of his vocal capabilities. The whole song, "Nighttime Disguise," feels like a good representation of Leprous as a whole.

This was also MY first time hearing Leprous, an amazing vocalist!

Leprous’s earlier material contains their heavier material. Their first two albums are very technical and proggy, while everything after that focuses more on atmosphere with vocal-centered compositions. Their two newest albums didn’t have any harsh vocals in them, since they’ve softened up their sound with each album that they make

Reminds me of Jeff Buckley singing in a fantastic prog band. However this guy also writes incredible songs.

Now you HAVE to react to Alleviate off of the same album. It is an absolute vocal master class

I love them. I tried singing From The Flame by them and got my ass kicked by Einar.

Also 'Contaminate Me' live at Rockefeller Music Hall with Uncle Isahn on Vocals is truly epic.

Whole Leprous is awesome.. Baard is one of the most talented drummer in music world.. Einar sounds like this on live too, maybe even better..

You should check Leprous - Alleviate and Tesseract - Nocturne

"This is probably the cleanest thing that I have reacted to in a while" Hahah Glad you liked it, since I was one of the people that suggested it. That belting/falsetto switch he does is outstanding. He has done growls in other songs as well, but their later stuff is more mellow. Nice review/commentary as always and I think you have also upped your game in editing!

Worth noting for interest, and forgive me if this gets mentioned(only 1/3 of my way into the video) - the singer/keyboardist is the brother in law of Emperor's Ihsahn, and Leprous itself is also the full time backing band for both Ihsahn live, and Emperor live.

This vocalist is the brother-in-law of Ihsahn of Emperor. That's why the two collaborate so much.

Einar is such an incredible vocalist. Leprous is just a sick band, period.

Review Lingua Ignota! Please

Oh HELL yes! I can’t wait. I love Leprous!

If you haven't already listened to the song, you should make one of these for their new song called 'Castaway Angels' that just dropped a couple of days ago.

Leprous is amazing! They’ve definitely softened up, but I still freaking love them! I introduce them to people all the time, it’s a shame they’re so unknown!

Take a deep.dive into Leprous they are incredible and deserve to be known more.

His head voice is so connected and his transitions flawless . This is not pure falcetto it definitely have a mix in there. Definitely one of my favorite of the last decade !
