I had chills running up and down spine. I can’t remember the last time I felt that way about a voice. I didn’t listen to the words, just the voice.

The band is insane. All of them. They were featured on Musora channel doing a cover of take on me by aha. It was a challenge given to them and the end result is awesome.

I love how you go from seemingly bored to absolutely amazed and excited. You lit up how I imagine I lit up the first time hearing Leprous.

"there is someone in this group, if not all of them, that are just cracked and on a different level" - pretty sure it's in fact all of them

Leprous are incredible. One of the best bands you´re ever gonna hear.

I found Leprous about 9 years ago and immediately was addicted (and blown away). Every single member is stupid talented and Einar's voice is chef's kiss on everything. If you do more of their stuff especially do anything off of Malina album.

You gotta check out more Leprous. You'll never not be surprised by them

As a voice coach, you should definitely go for "Acquired Taste". I think you need to know about singing to truly appreciate the fantastic performance that is. Preferably the live at Rockefeller in 2016.

12:00 thanks, I was hoping you would ask for it :D

Leprous is a Progressive Metal band from Norway, formed in 2001 by Einar Solberg (the singer) and Tor Oddmund Suhrke (the one holding the acoustic guitar) when they were 16. Their first official record was released in 2009, called Tall Poppy Syndrome, and since then they released 7 albums more, the last one in 2024. Although they are classified as a progressive metal band, they explore much more, mainly blending progressive and pop influences together, which results in songs like this. Castaway Angels is from their 7th album, from 2021, and although this song isn't representative of this band's sound, it represents very well their musicality and overall feel. I'm glad you like it

Their current members are:
- Einar Solberg, singer, keyboardist and main composer and lyricist. The best singer alive imho (important distinction: not the best voice, but the best singer)
- Tor Oddmund Suhrke, guitarist, lyricist and main backing vocals
- Robing Ognedal, guitarist
- Simen Borven, bassist
- Baard Kolstad, drummer. One of the best, if not the best drummer alive too
All of them contribute to the composition by Einar and some of them, like Simen, compose entire songs too. They all are at the top of their game and some of them (like Einar and Baard) are playing a completely different game on their own. They are a group of beasts

From here you can go many different ways in your reaction journey. But for you I would go with 5 options:
- Take On Me (there is a video of last year where they were put in the challenge of making a cover of a song on the spot, and it was the A-ha classic. Here you will see their compositional prowess and dinamic as a band)
- Slave (live at Rockefeller, where you will see their metal side and capabilities live. The song ends around minute 6:40)
- Nighttime Disguise (this is one of their most diverse songs, and where you will see most of their styles together, which makes sense because this was a song made along with the fans in a livestream, and it's from the same album of Castaway Angels, in fact, the song that comes right after it and the album finisher)
- At The Bottom (I think this is their best song. Everyone is at 1000% here)
- Vita Fragilis (this is a song by Einar Solberg, that in 2023 started his solo career with his first album called 16, and this year he released his second album, called Vox Occulta, from which this song comes. Although this is not the best song from that album, it's still excellent and shows all the tricks in his bag as a singer, so you'll have fun analyzing this one)

My vote would be the song "nightime disguise"

Einar has such a unique voice, this song shows one side of his voice. He also does harsh vocals, and there are a lot more to the band for you to discover. So thanks for the reaction, and im looking forward to see your next reaction to them 😀

Leprous is one of the best bands out there right now!

Alleviate would be another good one like this, and as someone suggested Nightime Disguise literally has him use his full range.

Thank you for featuring Leprous - a truly phenomenal prog band. Their cover of A-ha's "Take on Me" on the Musora channel is fun ❤

I’ll suggest “Have you ever?”.  Similar song structure and singing crescendo.  Impressive voice, impressive band.  And great live performers.  Good luck  on your journey!  Thanks for the reaction! I enjoyed it.

Awesome band.  This is one of their more mellow songs.  They have a great variety in their catalog.   Awesome live as well.

Einar also has solo work as well.  His new album is great and includes a lot of orchestra.

Dropped a suggestion on your sheet form. Leprous with Like a sunken ship. There Einar does some harsh vocals too 😀

I would go for 'Distant bells'. Astonishing music .

Leprous are easily my favorite prog band of all time. For some really fun harmonies and beautifully weird vibes, you should check out their song "Attonement" from their most recent album. But my favorite vocal and overall band perfromance and biggest recommendation is probably either "At the Bottom" or "Nighttime Disguise".
