A favorite performance from Su-Metal, I love when someone gets to watch this for the first time.

You will never get an argument from me about how good Su-Metal's voice is.

Excellent reaction, thanks!
"FDTD" is an uncommon track for several reasons: style, vocals, language, release, live history, and more.
Regarding the musical style, it’s a rare blend of dream trance and metal. Vocally, the song starts with some of Su-metal’s falsetto (not the first time we’ve heard it, although pretty rare), but the real highlight is when she hits those insane notes with full power in her head voice. Yes, she is incredibly good!
The lyrics are entirely in English (still a rarity) and have never been officially published, so the subtitles might not be 100% accurate.
It was only included in the international version of Metal Resistance (2016), while the Japanese version featured Syncopation instead (which I highly recommend). The song debuted live in 2017 at the Hollywood Palladium in LA, but they got some issues with the live footage (apparently copyright-related, which is quite ironic). It wasn’t performed again until 2021 at Budokan—where this footage comes from.
🤘🦊

Great reaction, thanks.🦊FDTD was on the international release of the Metal Resistance album (the Japanese release had 'Syncopation' instead) and, before the Budokan 2021 concerts where they finally played if two more times (thanks to a fan campaign to have it voted into the top 10 songs) it had been performed live only one time.

The first time it was played live was at the Hollywood Palladium in 2017, but the pro-shot video from that has never been seen, so we only ever had shaky fancam videos to watch - and we needed a proper video.
oimatsu おいまつ has made an excellent compilation of the best fancams from the 2017 performance and did a really good job re-balancing the audio (obviously it isn't the same standard as this version, but worth finding if you do want to see that).

2021 Momoko was still an Avenger, so no mic and less screen time, Moa was providing all the backing vocals.
That whole stage was a huge video screen - they even turned it into what looked like a huge flaming birthday cake.
The subtitles are a best guess - the official lyrics were never published and there have been many attempts to decipher them ever since the album was released ... some better than others, none of them more than close approximations.

I have to agree with you about Su-metal's vocal talents, she is my own favourite female vocalist for very good reason and it was her voice that first dragged me (not exactly kicking and screaming) into the Fox Hole.🦊

I was fortunate enough to see them perform this live for the first time at Hollywood Paladium. This song always gives me chills. this rendition is amazing.

This is one of my favorite videos from BABYMETAL. The progression of the stage and lighing is something else. Suzuka's singing is amazing as always but this always catches the reactors off guard.  Great reaction as always.

Great reaction! This is such a beautiful song! I love the chaotic descent into darkness, before the key-change and rise into the warmth of the rising sun.

And yeah, Su’s vocals are just a straight arrow into one’s soul. Amazing.

I really hope you get to see them live one day!!

🤘🦊🤘🦊

The first time I heard this song and Su hit the high note I got shivers up my spine and still do . 😁
🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

I'll always put off what I was gonna do to listen to one of your Babymetal reactions. Love that you'll rewind to get a better listen to something that caught your ear. The comments are always interesting. Yeah, Su's vocal's here border-imo-on the super natural. But always so filled with emotion.

Just as a side note Su won Metal Awards Female Metal vocalist of either '24 or '25 just can't remember which. And it was by a landslide. She is a beautiful and formidable front woman. Who can also be silly as all get out. The power and joy she can radiate during a performance is a thing of beauty.  Great reaction, thanks!

🍑 ⚡ 💕 / 🌅 - A great deep dive.
This song has only been performed live three times, including the two February 2021 shows at Nippon Budokan.
I was lucky enough to see the song's debut in 2017 at the Hollywood Palladium.
The staging for the Budokan shows was on another level though.
Although she wasn't an official member yet, Momoko performed at all ten of the 2021 Budokan shows.
By the middle of February in 2020, she was the only remaining avenger.

This live performance gives me absolute fucking chills every single time.

A great reaction to a beautiful song. Su's voice (and Moa's) is absolutely one of a kind.
Grington, road-runner and wolfpack have done their usual great job in the comments
How about a double reaction for the next one? Monochrome - Live at the PIA Arena, followed by Monochrome - piano version on The First Take. A lovely way of showing off both the wonderful crowd interaction and the versatility of Su's voice.

👍👍An awesome, awesome, awesome performance. The voice of an angel😇. Great reaction sir.  🦊     🖖❤

been waiting for you to do this i love this song my Queens voice is so relaxing and frees my head to think on needs to be done its a close 1 to akatsuki (unfinished version.)

That is a fantastic analysis!
I absolutely love the world-view expressed in "From Dusk Till Dawn." When I first heard it, I felt it was just like Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother." In fact, the two songs are so similar in tempo and tone that I even think they could be remixed together."Atom Heart Mother" is a grand, epic suite spanning over 20 minutes. It makes me wonder—if "From Dusk Till Dawn" had also been remade as a massive masterpiece like that, it could have marked a progressive new frontier for BABYMETAL, earning them even greater acclaim and cementing their name in music history.Although Pink Floyd is no longer active, there are tribute bands that carry on their legacy by continuing to perform their music. It is my secret dream that BABYMETAL will one like collaborate with them to perform a massively scaled-up remix that fuses "From Dusk Till Dawn" with "Atom Heart Mother."

So glad you are getting to hear the incredible, amazing things Su-Metal can do with her voice.  As you said, one of the top metal vocalists of all time.  I don't know of anyone  else in this genre who can do what she does here and in other songs.  Her voice is completely unique.

Nice reaction! FDTD is such an atmospheric song, I would love to listen to a live performance one day, while being there in person. It was never performed again after the 10 BABYMETAL Budokan concerts, afaik. Regarding the vocals, SU-METAL will not cease to amaze you. Did you notice that there was a duet with MOAMETAL as well? 😉 She is a great vocalist in her own right, and so is MOMOMETAL. The Kami Band in this was the Kami Band of the East. Great musicians.

There is a whole bunch of talent on stage at BABYMETAL concerts.

One of the best Babymetal songs, wish the performed this more. I don’t think they released the actual lyrics to this song, the subs in this video seems inaccurate

Thanks for taking on this recommendation.  I knew you would like it. This song could easily be considered a prelude to Metal Galaxy's "Trilogy of Lights" (Starlight, Shine and Arkadia). I don't recall if you have reacted to any of those yet, but when you do, do them in that order.

初めて BABYMETAL の "From Dusk Till Dawn" を聴いたのは "Hollywood Palladium 2017" でした。それ以来 BABYMETAL 全曲の中で最も好きな曲となりました。🍅YMY🍅
