Five months ago, RATATATA was our introduction to both BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy. We had no idea what we were getting into—and it completely blew us away!

Now we're back to experience the LIVE version and see if the energy, chaos, and fun translate to the stage. Can the live performance top the original music video? How does the crowd react? And has our opinion of these bands changed after months of listening to them?

Join us as we revisit the song that introduced us to two of the most entertaining bands in modern metal and give our thoughts, analysis, and rating at the end.

Were you there when RATATATA first dropped? Which version do you prefer: the music video or the live performance?

I’ve seen both bands perform this song independently. And both are such a vibe. Great freakin energy. The girls use video of the boys and the boys have almost holographic videos of the girls.
I would absolutely lose my mind if I got to see this collab in person with both bands on stage.
So much fun! You can’t be in a bad mood after this song.

I was in the mosh pit right down the front for this performance and the crowd was wild. It was easily the rowdiest pit I've been in in Japan.

The studio version had the guys from Electric Callboy playing the instruments, on this official live version it was the Kami Band laying down the tunes which is why it sounds a little heavier. This was filmed at Babymetal curated "Fox Fest" where Nico and Kevin joined Babymetal during the their set.

Omajination made fan cam compilation videos of this song from the summer festival performances in 2024.
The cat ears version where Babymetal were guest during Electric Callboy's set and the FuFu version where Nico and Kevin were guest of Babymetal.

Great reaction. BABYMETAL always sound better live. Fox-Fest was the event arranged by BABYMETAL in 2024, just 2 days after the single for 'RATATATA' was released - and the crowd already knew exactly what to do.

Electric Callboy was one of the bands BABYMETAL invited to play at Fox_Fest (the others were Metalverse, Bilmuri and Polyphia). Nico and Kevin from Electric Callboy joined BABYMETAL on stage on both nights to perform this live with them - so this had the Kami Band, who support BABYMETAL in all live shows, on the instrumentals (so it may sound a little heavier than when EC play it).

They played it live together after this at festivals in Germany and Spain in both band's sets with BABYMETAL joining EC, Kevin and Nico joining BABYMETAL and they just had more fun performing together each time. Check out Omajination's 'RATATATA FuFu version' for an excellent compilation from those performances.

I have a couple of suggestions for you. Another fun song by BABYMETAL, this one features Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine (not in person unfortunately), but you will also get a great instrumental intro by the Kami Band.
'Metali' with Kami Band intro live at Legend MM from March 2024.

And the song that possibly best represents who and what BABYMETAL are.
'Megitsune' live at PIA Arena from April 2023.

As much as I love the video for this (Who can resist Moa blowing a kiss?), Babymetal are definitely at their best when Live.
It's great to see them having so much fun on stage these days.
Fox Fest was a Babymetal concert.

No matter how well you think you can play a musical instrument - There's a Japanese Lady that plays it better.

Good job guys👊🏽⚡️ I hope they collab again. Such a fun song. Metal needed some fresh ideas, and. both of these bands are all about that. Nice guitar musings. 🦊🤘🏾

Well, it was Electric Callboys big Chance to get upgraded. There was a lot runing for them on this Collab. So they were always guests at Wacken but the Prime Shows like Rock am Ring and Rock im Park always lost their applications. They did not forget the times when they were still Eskimo Callboy. While Babymetal was always a well respected guest at Rock am Ring. They simply knewvhow to behave in Front of Cameras. And with many female Fans. And this was Babymetals own Festival in Japan. Things like skipping tests would not have been respected. Babymetal was always known for their amount of tests. And it was obvious that Amuse played with their new Software. And this was also the reason that they wanted to do as much shows with them in the European Festival Season. Like Rock am Ring , Rock im Park or Resurection.
