In todays video, I take a look back at several cancelled Looney Tunes movies, and there are way too many. I go over a few scrapped Space Jam sequels, the Pepe Le Pew movie "Pepe Le Pew In City Of Light, the cancelled... Marvin the Martian Christmas movie, Tooned Out (not a movie lol), and then Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical. Some of these had concept art, storyboards, animatics, test footage and full on leaked scripts, so I am able to take a pretty detailed look back. Also, congrats to Wile E. Coyote getting his movie, Coyote VS. ACME released... some of his Looney Tunes co-stars weren't quite as lucky.

Maybe you wanna watch some of my other videos? If so, here are some of my personal favorites I've made!!

When you think about, the Looney Tunes suffer from the same problems that the Muppets do. Where they are beloved by virtually near everyone worldwide… …But unfortunately, the only people who don’t share this same sentiment are the people who actually own them.

Bye bye bunny would've been PEAK and I will NEVER forgive WB for letting it go

I swear Looney Tunes deserves better, Warner clearly doesn’t care anymore

You forgot one. Cats Don't Dance was originally supposed to be a Looney Tunes movie, which explains a lot.

I hate Zaslav for canceling and scrapping so many Looney Tunes (and others) projects... why does he hate whimsy and slapstick? WB really seems to hate their iconic characters, which absolutely sucks. I am glad we got Coyote vs Acme released (as well as The Day The Earth Blew Up) at least... hopefully we can get more Looney Tunes content in the future still

1:05 I love how the phrase "These original PLANS" lip-syncs with Daffy's animation juuuuuust right. :cat-orange-whistling:

Y'know what? That Pepé Le Pew movie seems promising. From what is shown here, Pepé's character seems different from the usual chaser skunk he's known as, and it also brings his and Penelope's dynamic towards a new direction that puts their relationship in a new light. Even the way some other characters are reimagined—like Cecil being anxious instead of a poser or Michigan being a chill guy—is interesting.

I know that Pepé has become infamous these last decades and his cartoons have not aged well, but I think that in the right hands, something good can come out of it. There's so much you can do with a romantic French skunk beyond having him chase after women. My favorite moment of his as a kid was when he was enjoying himself in Paris oblivious that his scent was ruining the lovely atmosphere.

Side note, I love the concept art for this movie. Penelope in particular looks gorgeous <3 (also Sylvester dressed up like a street thug is lowkey fire). Oh, and save Bye Bye Bunny.

I want to see all of these movies so badly, but SPECIALLY Bye Bye Bunny and the Pepe film. They sound so fun and delightful, the kind of premises and (as far as I can gather) level of execution that fully take advantage of the Looney Tunes' potential and treat these characters with the respect they deserve.

Even if a bit generic, I can totally see the Marvin movie being an unexpected blast if taken in the wacky direction it would work best, and I miss Marvin so much. I can't believe he was gonna get a starring role in a movie!

This is why the Marvin the Martian movie should be made instead of getting cancelled

I agree with you that the Pepe Le Pew movie probably wouldn’t have made a lot of money, but, just from hearing the description of the movie and seeing concept art from it, I would kill to see that movie get made because I know that I would absolutely love it! Also, everyone in my family loves Pepe, so WB’s attempts to get rid of him have been very annoying.

I'm Glad Coyote vs Acme did very Well at Theaters but it is a Shame that those other Looney Tunes Movies got Scrapped

A rooster and a raccoon hybrid antagonist sounds pretty interesting 🤔

They would have made Pepe better

its honestly crazy that they think we DONT like looney tunes, but i would genuinely go crazy for pepe le pews redemption snd seeing a fully toon only movie to add more lore to toonverse.
the whole reason we loved looney is because they had witty humor and well written jokes! Ive genuinely rewatched a dozen of episodes along with the moderne series with bugs and daffy a million times its insane they dont think we dont want more content and refused to almost release acme vs coyote.

support coyote vs acme and ketchup entertainment!
so they know we want and will watch more looney tunes content!!

I genuinely would’ve liked to see City Of Light get made, and this is from someone who was scared of Pepe as a kid. (Heck, I still have mixed feelings about him)
After reading the script, it has a lot of potential and I really liked Pepe’s characterization, I think it would’ve actually made him a better character than how he is in older cartoons. I actually prefer this version of Pepe than how he usually is. Plus, Penelope getting a whole movie about her as a secondary main character would’ve been nice, speaking as a Penelope fan.

I would have LOVED to see the Pepe Le Pew movie. Became a fan of his recently, he's quite funny, cute, and charming, and has a striking design. While I understand why people may not like him, it would be awesome seeing him have a movie, and being shown in a positive and better light. I love him and Penelope's designs in the storyboard, it's hilarious and I quote it a lot. Really should have been made

I would have loved Wile as an assassin

I remember feeling bugged about WB supposedly dropping Pepe le Pew. Yes, his behavior is problematic, but I think that was the intended point. Even in the old shorts, he was framed as a bit of a desperate loser and an example of how not to pursue a woman. In other words, Pepe was the butt of the joke, and we, the audience, are meant to laugh at him, not root for him. I get not wanting kids to witness problematic behaviors, but I also think we underestimate kids' ability to recognize problematic behaviors as such. I watched McLintock when I was a kid, and was appalled at John Wayne's character spanking his wife with a shovel in front of a crowd. And to this day, I still oppose corporal punishment, even though that movie portrays it as acceptable.

Even setting all of this aside, why not just update Pepe le Pew's character? Even the other Looney Tunes characters have been altered several times over the years, just like Marvel and DC characters. Sorry for this rant, I just refuse to believe WB dropped Pepe for anything more than a PR move.
