The BTS and iHeartRadio controversy just took another turn. After BTS closed night one of the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Festival, some ARMY members criticized the length of BTS’s set and raised concerns about the broadcast and sound. Days later, iHeart-distributed The Woody Show addressed the backlash in an episode promoted around “angry BTS fans,” where members of the show mocked the fandom and repeatedly referred to ARMY as “losers.”

The backlash grew beyond complaints about the festival itself, with fans also criticizing how Jungkook’s name was handled during the segment. Petitions subsequently called for a public apology and accountability from The Woody Show and iHeartRadio. Woody later publicly apologized to BTS, Jungkook and ARMY, acknowledging that he became defensive and got Jungkook’s name wrong.

In this reaction, I’m breaking down the controversy, the fan response, the apology, and the discussion surrounding iHeartRadio’s sponsors. Important distinction: iHeartMedia publicly lists Capital One, Hyundai and numerous other companies as partners of the 2026 festival, but I have not found reliable confirmation that the sponsors collectively dropped iHeartRadio because of this BTS controversy.

TRETV gang, let me know what YOU think: Did the apology go far enough?
