I passed my driving test first try, even though I ran a red light. So, the light is yellow, I look in my rear view, and the guy behind me is absolutely booking it. I tell the instructor that I'm going to run the red, because if I don't, the car behind us is going to slam into us. I go through the red, and so does the car behind us. At the next light, I ask if I failed, and he said, "You assessed the situation, and clearly made the right call to avoid an accident. I'm not going to punish you for that." I could've cried. He could've easily been awful about it, and I'm still grateful he took it into context two decades later.

"Plan for the puddle" pissed me right off. The first time I took my test, the instructor randomly SCREAMED, at the top of his lungs, and I slammed on the brakes because I thought there was something wrong or in the road, and he failed me because "You have to be able to drive well when there are distractions in the car." 😶When we got back to the DMV, I told my friend's mom, who had taken me for the test, what happened, and she marched inside and screamed at the instructor basically the same way he'd screamed at me, and it made him drop his coffee😂 They were going to let me take it again immediately but I was crying so hard, I was blind. 😭😭

As someone who failed the test six times, I can absolutely relate to Toni in this video. The rage and the triggers and everything 😅

Can you send Ryan on a defensive driving course and take us along for the ride? Surely if he proves he's safe you'll have to let him drive rentals on location ... 😮😊

I failed my practical 6 times, each test with the same instructor. I swear failing me was Mike With The Rat Tail’s kink. After the last time, my best friend’s parents (they’d lent me their car to take the test in) told me to book the next available appointment anywhere else, and drove me an hour away the next morning to FINALLY get my license.

First time: I was such a confident driver that I casually rolled a stop sign, got called out, got flustered, and rolled two more. Second time: the test taker commented on my Lord of the Rings t-shirt, and we gabbed about Lord of the Rings the whole time. I don't know if he even paid attention to my driving, but I passed!

My very first time controlling anything bigger than a riding mower was with my driving instructor in the tiny parking lot of the AAA office. Parents, please do not do this to your children. Like, we lived on a farm. Why did no one have me go up and down the driveway at the very least?

What incredible timing, my Driving Test is tomorrow 😂

"plan for the puddle" They did! The several thousand pounds of metal and safety glass encasing them could even be described as overkill for a mild splash of rainwater. What more could they possibly want?

Having a rough day & then this pops up! Thank you guys. I needed it! <3

Reassures me I made the right choice to spend my life being driven rather than a driver

My test was going great until they asked me to pull off the road and up to the curb. I did it all great, you know: checked my mirrors, used my blinker, slowed down, mounted the curb with both tires, and put on my hazard lights. As it should be! Dunno why I failed.

I’m so glad I never had to take a driving test. This looks stressful!

I passed my driving test first try, although part of me honestly wonders how I managed it. Not because I was a bad driver though. My friend and I were taking our tests at the same time, in the same car, and she went first. She was super nervous, so in order to calm her down, I told her to floor it through one of the lights as a joke. It worked, but I don't know how the instructor let me get away with that!

When I was leaving my exam after just getting my license, I almost got hit because someone turned the corner into oncoming traffic. I then saw the examiner in the passenger seat, safe to assume they failed their exam 😅

They don't tell you until you are back at the station here, too many were being kicked out and abandoned in random places 😂

That dad was amazing for not reacting.

Failed three times. Passed the fourth. The instructor was the kind to yell when you did something wrong; scare you straight. Any mistake I made pretty much ended up in him escalating the situation while I was driving a car in the middle of traffic, and he could not figure out why I did not "calm down" when yelled at. Pretty sure he warned the examinator on the fourth go and begged him to let me pass, then asked me to never come back because of my "test anxiety".

I'm not saying I'm petty. I'm just saying, when I needed the copy of some random motorcycle papers for a school project, my FIL lived 20 minutes away and the driving school was two streets over. I baked him a cheesecake, went over just before the classes for the teens started, and asked if they still taught practical class for motorcycle licenses. He froze at the sight of me. He was so relieved I didn't want to take more classes that he let me photocopy all his vehicle information for free and sent me away with minimal questions as to what I was going to do with those documents.

I passed my driving test on the first try, but to be fair I think the test in my state in the US is probably a little bit easier than what I've seen of the Australian ones.

8:51 Here in America, at least the southeast, we do "punch buggy (color of car)  no punch back" when we see a Volkswagen Bug 🤣
