Do you see small businesses having a tough time where you live?

When "local business" is just drop shipped goods, then it isn't a local business. It's a drop shipping business with a storefront lol

Stop supporting small business.
Stop supporting big business.

Start supporting GOOD business.

We had a shoe store in our town next to Colorado college, that sold wonderful good leather shoe brands that were the classic and latest styles.  Yes they were a little bit more expensive than online but the owner was a shoe cobbler and he would re soul your favorite broken in shoes for a very small price and make your comfy old shoes like new for a small cost. He made belts for special fit and style, purses to match your shoes and that business was the best in town until he died of old age and his business sadly died with him.  Mr. Patinga.  He was a sweet heart!

i literally JUST resigned from a small business today. i'm so excited for my last shift to be over and done with. working there has been an absolute nightmare. no breaks, solo shifts, things frequently breaking, not getting public holiday pay, terrible management... yeah i quit after less than 3 months.

Closed on weekends + evenings, when people are off work to shop and then they wonder why no one shops there. Try being open when needed, not when you feel like being open.

Small businesses aren't supporting my small wallet!

if i hear “competitively priced” ive already got one foot out the door

Needed a dog bed for a large dog. Went to my small local pet shop. The bed was around $75 not including sales tax. I left the store and immediately went to Walmart- got relatively the same exact bed for about $25 (including sales tax). I don't wanna hear that we're "ruining people's livelihoods" and "killing people's dreams" anymore when they're charging prices the average person just isn't willing to even consider.

I wanted to buy a backpack at a midwestern small town “ boutique” once. The cashier was talking with her friend for like 5 minutes ignoring me, but I was waiting, I wasn’t in a big hurry, and didn’t want to be mean. When I was about to go away she asked if I wanted something, I showed the backpack and asked to pay with cash. She immediately said that they don’t accept cash but I can pay using Venmo or cash app. I was so pissed by then I just said “oh well then I’ll put it back, have a nice day “and went away. When I got home I found and ordered the same backpack from the official brand website and it was twice cheaper, shipping included. Good luck with that boutique business lol

I remember the blatant lie that was told to us during covid "prices are high due to supply chain issues." "prices will go down once things start to open up again" "this price increase is only temporary". 3 years later and things are still at covid prices.

Didn't they spend literal decades telling us poor folk that if we stopped spending our money on crap like this, we'd all be able to afford houses and bills and stuff? Why are they mad at us for actually taking that advice? One minute, it's like "you don't NEED a fancy cup of coffee every day" now it's "young consumers are killing small businesses by not buying a fancy cup of coffee every day." WE CAN'T WIN

The cost of beauty services is absolutely insane.  I know there’s a lot of skill and knowledge required to provide those services, but $200+ for a cut and color, $40+ for a basic manicure, $60+ for a pedicure - that adds up fast! I went back to coloring my own hair, doing my own mani/pedi and grew my hair out and only go about 3 times a year for a trim (and that still costs me $75 plus tip each time).

Every time I see a small business with 'short hours' or 'by appointment only', I immediately think it's just a front for something shady.

My boss at a menswear shop didn't believe in marketing.  He wouldn't shell out £25 a year to appear in the parish magazine, or even £5 to join the local trader's association. If I wanted to print out a poster, or put stuff online, I had to do it at home.  Eventually he made us turn off the lights unless a customer came in, so no one going past even knew we were open.  One of the most unpleasant men I've ever worked for.

I’m an attorney and I have represented a large number of small businesses over the years.  I find that the major reason that small businesses fail is that their owners are not very good business people.  They either do not provide good value at a fair price, or simply are not very good at handling money.  Many simply don’t understand what it really takes to run a successful business.  And then, they blame others for their failures.  Mind you, this is not everybody.

I worked at 8 different small businesses before getting into a corporate job and I think the sheer number tells you everything you need to know. Irregular pay checks (which were also pitiful), working 13 days for 1 day off and so on. Horrible work conditions, and for nothing. Now I get regular pay checks and have my weekends off and am not crying on Sunday night because I don't want the work week to start again. These jobs literally made me hate mornings.

Farmer markets used to be just farmers or people with a large garden, now its get rich schemes.

My husband is a Veteran. He found a Barber that is a Veteran. He charges like 8 bucks for a haircut. My husband always gives him a 20 as a tip. People need to realize, if you treat people good, they'll treat you good back.

It's the entitlement for me. I didn't ask you to start a small business. I'm not obligated to support you. I am willing to spend more money for personalization and higher quality, but I'm not spending my hard-earned money on Temu bullshit and piss poor customer service.
