Do you see small businesses struggling where you live?

They are charging $12 for coffee because there are fools that PAY $12 for coffee!!!!🤨

Etsy used to be home made crafts, now the majority is reselling temu items

These are not “businesses”. These are side hustles and scams.

A local beloved place (In a beach community) used to have breakfast special 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, bacon or sausage, unlimited coffee. All for $8.50. The place was allways full especially on weekend mornings. The owner retired and sold the business. Now the new owners charge $18.50 for the same and coffee is extra. Today the place sees business only during beach season, during winters the place is pretty much empty. A place where locals used to gather and gossip is now avoided by the local residents.

I don’t consider businesses that just flips/dropships items a valid “small business”. That’s a hustle.

I am a crafter (knitting, crochet, spinning, stamp carving, and more). People always tell me I should sell my stuff. I don’t because the rate I would have to charge to recoup the cost of materials and labor, even at minimum wage, is far beyond what somebody would want to pay for that item. Plus the time put into marketing the item to sell. I get much more value in giving it away to worthy causes.

I could not care less why the coffee costs $12, I'm not paying that for a coffee.

Years ago I went to an outdoor flea market, Englishtown NJ. There’s a vender there who sells plants. Tomatoes, green beans… all sorts of vegetable plants. Him and his wife have a small farm. When I saw other plant venders and saw their prices compared to his prices… I said to him, don’t get me wrong, I love that you haven’t raised your prices in all these years. He responded “You can sheer a sheep many times but skin them only once”.
That right there, is why there was a LINE of people waiting to pay for the plants they picked out.

11:30 Vittorio Reggianini is famous for how he paints fabric, he makes silks and satin look luminous and real. The tiktok artist made the dresses flat and dull, 25K for that is insane.

Social media makes people think they’re “business” savvy 😂.

"Support small business" and they still treat their employees like crap and pay them nothing.

The greed is ridiculous.  Businesses are sourcing polyester shirts from China for $3 each and trying to sell them for $80 here in the US.  Companies like that can go bankrupt as far as I'm concerned.

Every time I turn around some lady is opening another small boutique with extremely overpriced junk in it. You rarely ever see customers in them either. I’m starting to think they are front for laundering money

I'm a plumbing contractor in SoCal. The amount of money people are charged for services is asinine. Going rate to change a toilet is $400. I can't in good conscience charge someone that amount of money for something they could do on their own. My goal is to show you everything I'm doing, explain whats going on, and have you understand what exactly goes into a certain situation so you know the true cost of things AND so you can potentially do it on your own so you wont have to call me back. If you see a company that has flashy trucks or expensive advertising, you're paying for that. I want you to save your money

Local business owners were complaining about low sales lately, and were QUICKLY overwhelmed with hundreds of comments about unfriendly service, insanely overpriced merchandise and generally useless items. Nobody will pay $300 for a pot plant they can get online for $30, nobody is going to spend $200 on a pair of thin linen pants when you can get the same kind of thing for $50 at a chain store, even if we have to drive 30 minutes. They also refuse to display prices in a lot of these stores, so they KNOW it's overpriced. Many stories of being followed around like a criminal and treating staff terribly, too. They just refuse to admit that their overpriced crap is not somehow more valuable because we're in a "tourist" area, and that locals don't NEED what they're selling, which is mostly homewares etc.

You can't bitch and whine about not making sales whilst half of the community are struggling between paying rent vs buying food for the month. Nobody cares.

Clocking out and not giving a single shit about my job in my free time is priceless. Side hustle and business looks like such an exhausting experience.

Something that addresses small business was actually on I Love Lucy in the 1950s they decided to go into business for themselves. They bought a diner. They didn’t know what they were doing. They didn’t I have a lot of customers and they went out of business. The previous owner bought the place back and then said that the real money he makes is selling the business to people who want to go in business for themselves and then buying it back (when they fail) lol

The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the axe. The axe was clever and convinced the trees that since his handle was made of wood, he was one of them.

Begging for someone to give you their cash online is so cringe 🙄
