No way he added a list of punctuations in his book for readers to add them to the text as they please😭
This guy is not an idiot, he's a genius!

@Sidionian 1 year ago

He maxxed out his luck stats and ignored intelligence entirely.

@itsvmc 1 year ago

He would probably be gambling with meme coins if he existed today

@AvalosTokyo 1 year ago

He was playing chess while we thought he was playing checkers.

There should be a movie about this guy.

@Sidionian 1 year ago

If they ever make a movie, it should be called "A series of fortunate events."

Ok that appendix full of punctuation bit is actually hilarious. This dude was a riot, clearly had a sense of humor. Also, shipping the stray cats was a high key genius move. Turning one areas problem into a different locations solution while cleaning up a huge profit in the process is a smart move that takes knowledge and insight.

My mom was born in Newburyport and we used to go look at the Timothy Dexter mansion there. Even had a copy of the book "A Pickle for the Knowing Ones." It was insane. His legend lives on in Newburyport and finding his story being told again by one of my favorite YouTubers really gave me a good laugh. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

The main lesson I get from him, is that he was a man of action. He had ideas and carried them out. The logic might have been daft, but luck prevailed. I've had lots of 'clever' ideas, but didn't act on them and missed opportunities, which is it's own kind of stupid.

I am genuinely astounded at the fact you can produce such high quality content so regularly without any dip in quality, if anything it's just improving exponentially

The good old days when getting rich and famous for being an idiot was utterly baffling instead of totally commonplace

in the book he's not claiming to become the Emperor but he's saying that Bonaparte is his dear friend and he can rely on him on the times of need. :)

My father was an amateur historian and told me a little about Timothy Dexter when I was young. He called him "An idiot Savant who could sell snow to an Eskimo."
I had mostly forgotten about him until watching this video. This helped me to understand what my father meant.
Thank you for creating it.

He honestly seemed like a genius who could find gold where others could only see stupidity.

Lord Timothy, the Forrest Gump of the colonial/post colonial era. My mom lived in Newburyport for many years, and the tales heard of Lord Timothy unbelievable but true. He apparently used to walk the streets with a goose on a leash.

His writing is actually amazingly successful at phonetically conveying accent. It’s impossible not to read it without his accent. Reading Hagrid in Harry Potter is a close second, and that was written that way deliberately.

Dexter really was a genius. He invented ASCII art even before ASCII was invented.

I saw the title and immediately knew it was Timothy Dexter. My Sam O"Nella Academy degree comes in very handy here.

I can’t tell if the appendix of punctuation is genuine stupidity or the greatest troll of all time

@laken1804 1 year ago

He was a master marketer. He made ridiculous decisions, but was able to tell what problems he was solving.

People bought his articles to solve a problem.
