That Beverly Hills Cop game gives me horrific ptsd. My gran bought it for me because she is old and didn't know better, it was made for grannies and the bargain bin to trick them and torture small children. Also love that they misspell the word mission on the level start screen. Quality all round, what can I say.

I remember when I learned that they wrote the opera song to be impossible for a human to sing but the Italian Opera singer got so close to pulling it off it floored the sound director.

45:48 the game is actually a sequel to Jafar’s Revenge, at the end of that film Jafar’s lamp is destroyed which kills him, hence his sister summoning him from hell to revive him; this has nothing to do with the plot of the third film which is about Aladdin’s fine-as-hell dad.

43:49 to be fair there's literally a trope called "The Genie Knows Jack Nicholson" because of when in the first Aladdin film, Genie did a full impersonation of Jack.  And in the TV series Aladdin says ""What's the genie doing?" "Dreaming about references to some form of entertainment that hasn't been invented yet." and explained that the Genie does travel through time with his powers so eh, fine. :P

Matthew, this is your PSA that they're coming out with new action figures of (da-na-na-na) Skeleton Warriors.

The character you don't recognize in Cool World was Gabriel Byrne's Jack Deebs, the guy who "created" Cool World (or so he thinks).

I was about 7 or 8 years. Up until then games were just games, but the Fifth Element triggered something in my little mind, I finally managed to put together that "this...is a bad game"

Shiiiiiit this was right in the nostalgias, Matt! I unapologetically loved the Fifth Element game when I was a kid. This video really captures that surreal, almost melancholic feel of the PS1 era

If you're talking about the voice of the actual dragon, I believe that was Sean Connery. If you're talking about the knight, then I'm pretty sure that was Dennis Quaid.

Pretty sure the awful noise in cliffhanger is supposed to be the crunching of powdery snow, but no idea why it's keyed to hits instead of movement. Funny enough, you bailed before the game turns into a proper pain in the ass.

That MIB game felt like Fear Effect levels of obscurity and trial and error lol

Lol that creepy director guy also directed Fifth Element lol

Yeah, Fifth Element was an original IP, though was inspired by the sci-fi comic scene in France that gave us the likes of Valarian and others. Alas the Valarian movie we got was an utter train wreck outside of the opening sequence and the title sequence, which are certified, stone-cold bangers. Fifth Element, though, still holds up today in its entirety.

No personal shields in it, though. That was Dune. No police station scene in the movie either, just a couple cops hassling Leeloo before she swan-dives off a ledge and lands in Corbin's cab.

The dragon in Dragon Heart, Draco, was played by Sean Connery. The human is Bowen, played by Dennis Quaid.

So the reason you didn't recognise the actors in the Untouchables is because it's actually based on the 1993 TV series, not the movie with Costner, Connery and De Niro. There were games based on the movie, but they were mainly for micro-computers in the EU. So it goes.

That small guy in the load transition/new game screen of the Aladdin game was the storyteller (secretly the Genie in the first film).

'The Blues Brothers' for SNES is my benchmark for bad movie games. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, but the game has nothing to do with the movie, apart from a basic 'get to the concert' story and a decent 16-bit version of 'Everybody Needs Somebody.' It has no reason to exist, either; it came out 11 years after the original film and 18 years before the execrable 'Blues Bros 2000,' so the characters were about as far from public memory as possible.

Luc Besson had been working on the concept of The 5th Element since he was in high school, taking inspiration from the French sci-fi comic scene. The movie still holds up today, and is one of my favorite films ever

The first of my elder brother and his wife's  cat was also called LeeLoo.

Sadly LeeLoo had to be put down a couple of years ago.  😢

6:32 if you ever think to yourself "geez I am really having to jump a whole lot," you might be in a video game

I don't remember much of the first Dragonheart, but I remember the direct to video sequel "Dragonheart: A New Beginning". But mostly the scene where they try to teach Drake how to breathe fire by pointing him away from the town's mills so he doesn't burn them down... Only for him to fart fire on the mills. Yup it's a kid's franchise. That has had 3 more movies released in the past decade?!
