Not having a house show is what killing the talent

Having them all trained and brought up the same way leaves them all the exact same too.

R.I.P Macho Man

There is something called Overexposure. And WWE talent is overexposed, the magic behind the curtains is gone. Breaking kayfabe to such an extreme completely destroys the imagination of the "characters"

I remember talent talking about the burden of running so many house shows but at the same time it allowed them to get their reps in and learn improv. There's gotta be a happy medium.

Repeatedly telling us everything is fake and learning all the wrestlers are awful humans, kind of takes the magic out of it.

The recent Rick Boogs interview really highlights the problems with the current system. It would be like the military continually sending people back to basic training instead of having them actually doing the job next to leaders with years of experience.

Back in the 80's it wasn't surprising to see the likes of Flair, Steamboat, Wahoo, Chief Jay, and several others all doing matches in local high school, and junior high school gyms.

The fact Stephanie McMahon has a podcast is a flaw in itself.

Macho Man is in my personal Mount Rushmore. I love that clip so much

Wrestlers in the PC aren’t learning to wrestle, they’re learning to rehearse a match. It’s not the same thing. WWE doesn’t have wrestlers, they have superstars, remember? They don’t need to know how to wrestle there, they just need to know how to do what they rehearsed and say what they’re scripted to say between ad breaks.

There is stark contrast between wrestlers who were in NXT during the black and gold era vs recent wrestlers in NXT. Back in the NXT B&G era you had wrestlers who were in different promotions, who worked in different countries. They were able to pick up or experience different wrestling style from the high flying style of Mexican wrestler to strong style wrestling in Britain and Japan. But a lot of these current NXT wrestlers have backgrounds in sports not pure wrestling. And the only exposure they have is the WWE style.

"It can take decades of work to become an overnight success." came to mind.
Goes for music, goes for theatre, movies, TV acting, goes for anything.

Never seen that Macho Man clip before. Gotta love him

I would’ve loved to see some of the early 2000 wrestlers only gets six months of training before heading to the main roster without any house shows😂

Note to anybody checking cagematch to verify James' numbers about matches Angle, Rock, and Lesnar had before getting to the main roster: Cagematch is a great site, but they don't have everything. There are tons and tons of OVW and Memphis shows that nobody has records of (or records are spotty and haven't made it into cagematch yet).

In regards to The Rock, you're forgetting a key detail. He was sent to the Hart Dungeon, prior to returning from the long hiatus, that saw him team up with the Nation of Domination, and thus, beginning his rise as a star.

Back then during prime NXT there was a mix of veterans, indi guys and developmental talent but now there's just too much focus on the developmental ground up guys and creates a very samey experience when everyone is wrestling the same style of match

Watching Becky Lynch just stand there gawking like an idiot while Sol Ruca slipped up her Sol Snatcher was frustrating.    A real pro would've immediately rushed Sol and gotten her in some sort of grapple/fight to re-set her up for the move instead of just standing there an extra two seconds.

Part of why Michin is underrated talent -- when she went up against Iyo a few years ago Iyo botched on a rope and Michin immediately rushed her instead of just standing there waiting for her to re set up the move.
