Something most people don't know about the Luddites is that they weren't protesting automated looms themselves, they were protesting textile factory owners for using this new technology to price talented artisans out of their jobs and replacing them with dangerous, deadly factories that paid abusively low wages and used child labour. It was never about the machines. They were enshittifying the textile industry. Being a Luddite means you stand for labour rights and against the abuses of the rich. It's a good thing to be.

AI is killing my soul as an artist. I have been hired by a company for storyboarding and now they want me to JUST use AI to generate stuff. Idek man, at one point AI will become like fast-fashion, where if you can't afford artists, you use AI. Corporations will cut back on using real people, the average Joe will start using more AI because it's cheaper - and art will be reserved just as a luxury. I hate this.

I don’t follow Skai Jackson on Snapchat, but she pops up sometimes and I was clicking through her story one day where people were warning her about, creeps on the Internet and not to post her child, and she was like “their actions are not my responsibility, I’ll post my child if I want“ (not an exact quote but close enough). She then went on to show how many people were screening photos of her child’s feet and legs, and she’s like “you guys are gross, stop screenshotting my child”. I grew up watching Disney Channel but now I think it’s her turn.

as a translator I saw the "let's be careful, and careful again" line and went, damn, that's a really lazy translation, like they didn't even try to make it natural. I wonder who was translating all of these quotes. and yet somehow it didn't occur to me that it was just an llm translation and that's why it didn't even try. PSA: if you add “-ai” to the end of your google search, it will remove the ai summary and it will also remove ai generated images from image search. It’s not 100% everytime but it’s been very nice. It’s horrible looking for reference photos of real things for drawing and all you get is slop.

It's very clear to me that people think using AI is the smart thing to do to be ahead of the curve. People clearly think if you aren't using it you're dumb, but everyone who gets caught using it looks lazy and ignorant. I don't understand why people can't leave it alone. It's not a benefit and you aren't smarter for using it. There's such a weird desire humans have to be first at something you shouldn't ever be competing for. I wish people would get back to focusing on producing real art or actually contributing to society instead of just using cheating systems that steal work

As a kpop fan, South Korea has a HUGE GenAI/LLM problem. So many idols are using it constantly, it's in music videos everywhere, album art, backgrounds in content, banners.... it's as bad there as here if not worse.
