Patrick Stewart's story reflects my childhood story. My father fought during WW2 in France and Germany when he was in the US Army. He was so kind and loving with my mother, brother and I but when he drank, he was a different person. I remember hearing him yell out at night from bad dreams. He never spoke about the war until later in life and only opened up with a few stories. I didn't understand as a child but now that I'm in my 70s, my eyes are open. I miss him so much and realize what a wonderful person he truly was. If only I could speak to him again and tell him.
Patrick Stewart is such a lovely and sensitive man, so glad he participated in this show. The love and respect between the two brothers is clearly evident in the final scenes. Patrick did a wonderful thing laying to rest his brothers doubts about his parentage. His understanding of their father and his growing warmth towards him while not condoning the domestic violence is gratifying.
