Una Stubbs: York Workhouse to Garden City | Who Do You Think You Are? UK | S10 E1
Who Do You Think You Are? Full Episodes
23,497 views
A beloved star searches for the family she never met and uncovers a past no one spoke about. What begins with a nameless grandfather becomes a journey through York’s hidden history and a visionary new town.
Una Stubbs follows a fragile paper trail to a shocking birthplace, a blind basket maker who changed a child’s fate, and a ledger that quietly labels a life. A faded photo reveals pride where she expected distance. At Rowntree’s, a smiling face in a council photo hints at respect hard-earned—before a machine age forces a life-altering move. Then a second thread snaps into focus: the Garden City dreamer whose book, a single letter, and a breathless auction set the stage for a family to reunite in a place designed for hope.
How did a York workhouse, a chocolate factory, and a radical plan for towns pull one family together across generations? Watch Una connect the dots between Annie and Arthur in York and Sir Ebenezer Howard’s utopian vision at Welwyn Garden City.
Watch now to see what the records don’t quite say out loud.
