The commentary was so underrated and modest. Football was great before Sky killed it.

Can remember watching this game- the match on itv on Sundays at 3pm was unbelievable-amazing coverage-always smelt of Sunday roast in the house when these games were on - great times

I just love the simplicity of the presentation. Here's our thoughts pre match, less than 60 seconds long, Here's the game, Here's the highlights of the other matches. Done. Those were the days.

Who else use to watch the football on normal TV on a Sunday then go out and meet your mates on local field to reconstruct the goals u just saw and pretend u are thar player
Good old days

Brian Moore was a Brilliant Commentator & Presenter Elton Welsby

Little things taken for granted but crazy it took decades for the score and minutes to be displayed on screen

Steve McMahon what a player

I miss those days so much (: college days great football and music

Thanks GC7677,
Another excellent package for us-exciting game from Anfield followed by goals of the day. Fine performances from McMahon and Houghton for Liverpool being denied by good goalkeeping by Thorsvedt.

Was there. I feel  very old.

With Rocky music as well.. Fantastic coverage.

1:59 I was at Old Trafford that night. Spurs deserved to win. We were awful.

Watched this match & the live return fixture too - both these teams winning the home game 1-0.  I used to get a real sense of adrenaline when these live matches were shown something I don't seem to get these days with Bt sport & Sky - perhaps because games are shown 24/7 now unlike 30 odd years ago.

Happy memories of Sunday afternoon. Brian Moore commentary of Michael Thomas always sends shivers down my spine

To think ITV only showed what, 20 games a season and it wasn't every Sunday either. They were special days

It's up for grabs nooooooooooooowwwww!!!

2:46 Oh Elton, that was the kiss of death for us in this game - saying Graeme Sounness was a Spurs reject. ;) Oh well....

£20 m, wouldn’t buy you a round of beers at the new Spurs stadium. How times have changed. RIP Greavsie !

Just here for the intro

Quite a few foreign players in the spurs squad, the norm now but back then most players were from the uk and ireland
