Correct, if we didn't like you we would not take the piss out of you. Just be careful not to overstep the mark when firing back. It is very easy to get carried away and go too far.
My brother regularly travels to Germany Belgian and France on trains . He has a lung condition that stops him from flying. He can set off from the local station in Yorkshire and disembark in Germany walk across the road and pick up the boat for a river cruise. As for nhs im on a camp site in west Yorkshire my mate in the next van just went for a blood test and some heart test then another doctors appointment today. just waiting for him to come back. Ive put the kettle on
My first girlfriend (in the 1960s) was a health visitor in the 3 villages around the NE of Sheffield. So she knew everyone's health problems. And now I see that Kelsey-Seybold have now introduced this system in Houston. I never had a car until I went to Tanzania because I could do anywhere by bus or tain.
The US health system dissuades people from seeking advice. In the UK, if you feel unwell or something is bothering you, you see your GP and get it checked out. It's free, can put your mind at rest and is a pro-active, preventative step. A lot of UK healthcare is preventative, offering (free) screening for a wide variety of conditions which are more treatable (and ultimately demand less resources) if caught early. The US needs to find a way to move towards something similar, which will improve the health of the nation.
The United Kingdom is not perfect, but glad I live here and not USA. I've had major surgery on NHS and a few short hospital visits, get a annual health check at my Doctors. Now aged 82.
I have an American friend who has just obtained British citizenship after living in the UK for 5 years. The first thing he did was go to the American consulate or was it the embassy in London and denounce his American nationality. So now he only has one nationality, and he doesn't have to pay any more tax to the USA. He said he will never go back, even to visit the USA !
City pubs are different than town or village pubs though they are slowly catching up as a community hub as more city areas become designated centres for local communities.
It is entertaining to listen to your understanding of the cultural differences between the UK and the US, here in the UK we understand some of the cultural differences between the four home nations but the outsiders view can be enlightening. Hopefully you will circulate through the UK and get away from the South Eastern corner of this beautiful country.
Some mismatches with the stock footage. Some vehicles seem to be on wrong side of road, etc. Pub glasses giving extremely short measure. Interesting anyway.
What you have expressed here is the same all over Europe ! I love French cafés, and in Alsace, France the local pubs are called Winstubs. They have fantastic, food and wine, beer and brilliant atmosphere ! europe is brill, better than the USA !
