My sister works in an office and when she didn't take her time off the manager disabled her door pass so she couldn't get into the building. She only re-enabled it once the 14 days were up.
Saying "Sorry" is not an apology. It's an expression of regret, which is why two people can bump into each other and both say "sorry". It's not a statement accepting responsibility.
With health care being free in England the food companies are not pressured by big pharmaceutical companies to poison the population. Many food suppliers in America also have their fingers in big pharmaceutical companies. The land of the free 😮
Oh Olivia! A Union Jack pendant worn proudly. I am so proud of you and your conversion to a British outlook. As always, your personal presentation is exquisite and I adore you. Thank you so much for living among us. We benefit immensely from your presence. Jeff x
As an ordinary Clerical Officer in The Mid 1980's,so,40 years ago,I was getting 29 days PLUS Bank Holidays(plus a week's sick leave which in my Nationalised Industry was almost compulsory!). These "sick" days were, invariably, taken on a Monday or Friday to elongate the weekend. I won't mention the fiddled "Flexitime" or the reguar 2 hour lunches and, naturally,on the dot of 5pm,we were off. On one of my naive early doors,I tried to return to my open plan office at 5pm and caught in the stampede coming towards me. I learned quicky. Halcyon Days.👍👍
There are 3 ways of buying drinks when out in the company ofborh 1 buy rounds and drink rounds. 2. Use a kittie. Where everyone puts an agreed amount of money in an empty glass or centre of the tabl, let's say £10 each. Then, anyone can take money out and buy the round for everyone. If it runs out the the group decides to add a bit more or call it an evening. If there is any money left over that can either be divided or keft as a tip to the staff. 3. You can opt out of the round system in a pub if you want. For example, if you dont beer only shorts / alcohol. You can say loudly to all that, I'll buy my own. If you don't drink alcohol or beer and instead soft drinks. Again, just say loudly, don't shout, if it's ok with everyone, I'll oay for myself. If you are a student and dont have much money gain just let it be known. Sorry, I'm not trying to bring the party down, but if it's OK with you, I'll be buying my own round tonight. I can't stretch my money to xxx rounds. And so on. Or I'll be leaving early, so I'll be just buying for myself.
Two things. (1) The main reason we do not have plug sockets in our bathrooms isn't because of the age of our houses, it's because our supply runs at 240 V RMS. If you get electrocuted at this voltage you will be turned into crispy chicken. (2) In the event of en existential crisis we do not always head for the paracetamol. Our first port of call is often a mug of tea and a chocolate hob nob. Only if this miracle cure all fails do we head to the medicine cabinet. We're a hatdy bunch here in the UK.
In the UK we would never give our bank debit or credit card to anyone, least of all a bar keep or server. The bank would blame you if your card or any money went missing through such carelessness, so they might not recompense you for any losses.
As a Brit this made me laugh so much. Glad you're getting your head round it all and seem to be thriving...although if your washer dryer isn't drying properly I'd get it checked...mine dries perfectly! 😂
