Life with Aaron Arnold - @lifewithaaronarnold

I had NO idea Sweden was responsible for so many of the biggest songs in history! Today I'm reacting to 100 Top Hits from Sweden 1974 to 2024 — and my mind is completely blown. ABBA, Ace of Base, Swedish House Mafia, Crazy Frog, and so many more iconic artists… all from Sweden?! As an American reaction to Swedish music, I genuinely could not believe how many of these songs I knew word for word. This American reacts video is one for the books!
Every single song in this video is a certified banger, and I had no clue they were Swedish. From the 70s all the way to today, Sweden has been quietly running the music world — and we had no idea. What really got me was how almost every single Swedish hit was recorded in English. Why is that? How does a country produce this many global anthems in a language that isn't even their own? This Swedish music reaction will change the way you think about where your favorite songs come from.
Growing up in the US, songs like "Where Did You Go" by Ace of Base were absolute anthems. We sang them, we danced to them, we thought they were American. Turns out Sweden was behind it all. ABBA alone had hit after hit after hit — Mama Mia, The Winner Takes It All, Knowing Me Knowing You — these are some of the greatest songs ever written. And then Swedish House Mafia walks in and takes over an entirely different generation. Sweden doesn't just make good music — Sweden makes LEGENDARY music.
This is exactly what Aaron Arnold Reacts is all about. On this channel, we're discovering everything about Europe — the music, the sports, the culture, the people — and having an absolute blast doing it. Whether it's a European music reaction, a sports reaction, or just exploring what makes Europe so unique and fascinating, we're here for all of it. Every single video we learn something new, and today we learned that Sweden might just be the greatest music-producing country in the world.
If you love music reactions, European culture, and discovering things that completely blow your mind, you are in exactly the right place. You should react to Max Martin. A swedish producer who created a lot of bangers and hits

I'm swedish and I get a bit emotional everytime I see this compilation cause I feel so proud of our music export. Like we're a relatively small country way up north but still we have artists creating such huge worldwide hits. it's amazing

Sweden is the third biggest net exporter of music in the world (after the US and the UK). Aside from Swedish artists (like the ones you saw in this video) a lot of the songs in the top of the Billboard-lists that are performed by american artists are written or co-written by swedes. Ed Sheran called Sweden the home of pop-music in an interview as he has worked so much with Swedish songwriters and producers☺️ Nice reaction🧡

Funny fact: the Stakka Bo guy is the director of the Chernobyl TV series!

All of Sweden owes a debt of gratitude to ABBA.
On April 6, 1974, with their iconic Eurovision performance, conquering the contest with the groundbreaking "Waterloo," ABBA not only launched their extraordinary and legendary musical career of unforgettable hits, but also opened doors for other Swedish artists to gain international recognition.
Today, Sweden is the third largest music producer in the world, after only the United States and England, thanks to ABBA.

Back in -94 when I was doing my military service, I saw Rednex perform at "Levinska Källaren". The most popular pub/nightclub in Östersund at the time. The energy they had was awesome, and contagious. I don't think there was anyone not jumping about like crazy. Fun times.

And about the songs being in english; People generally write in english when they write for the international market, or is hoping to reach an international audience😊 (And otherwise too in a lot of cases. We listen to a lot of music from English-speaking countries so we’re influenced by that. Some people prefer to write in english, some only write in swedish). Songs written in swedish rarely become big outside of Sweden/Scandinavia.

It is criminal to cut off The Cardigans - My Favourite game at that specific point.

You should react to the band First Aid Kit if you wanna hear two Swedish sisters sing country style songs with a southern drawl.

The issue with Symthony is that they made out that Zara wasn't a feature when she is a Feature on Clean Bandit's song (English Musical Group)

Getting so much nerd vibes from this... Dr. Alban was actually born in Nigeria, and started his music career when he met the music producer Denniz Pop. Dr. Alban is also a licensed dentist. Dennis have written and produced songs for artists like Britney Spears, E-type and Backstreet Boys. Alexander Bard, a band member of Army of Lovers is also a philosopher and have writen numerous books on digital philosophy and he is the music producer behind the music group Alcazar. The Basshunter song "Boten Anna" is often missunderstood to be about a boat, but its actually about a Bot (computer controlled player, like in a computer game). He is also known for another song called DOTA (yeah, literarly a song about Defense of the Ancients, the custom map for Warcraft 3.) Thanks for the reaction! 💙💛💙

05:07 Fun fact, the guy on the right — Johan "Stakka Bo" Renck — is one that directed the TV series "Chernobyl".

The video is from 2016, but it's always so much fun to see people react to it, and realize that so many of the familiar hits they know, were actually made by Swedes.

The A-Teens were originally an Abba cover band

We also have a more "Swedish" music scene of course but those are really not the big international hits for obvious reasons so most of the artists people from other countries would know sing in English.

Okay, two fun facts here: Our piano first belonged to the pianist in Europe (those who did the final countdown) and my dad's cousin is working with icona pop (who made i love it)😁

We can thank the Swedish school for this. All children can, if they want to participate in music lessons, learn to play the guitar, flute, piano and more.
