11:17 this scene was basically a blooper that they decided to leave in. she genuinely forgot which way she was supposed to run, his laughing is the actors genuine reaction lol

You're the first person I see shocked at him putting the cat in the trash bag. All others I've watched didn't even point it out.
When I saw the cat on your shirt and on your light I hoped you'd be the fist one, and you didn't disappoint.

The real villain of this movie is the sandwich for being made of cat.

9:36 yes,  being direct when she just asked "do you like me" is the right option, but Bear already being afraid to say it makes it much harder to respond when her tone in asking is one of annoyance. It just adds more doubt to him telling her how he feels.

(And it's not just a response Bear has as its a pretty universal for guys who already doubt a] if the girl will reciprocate the feelings or b] he thinks the girl is out of his league.)

All the acts of kindness the Entity tried to do for Bear were all tainted by Actual Nikki. Actual Nikki was always fighting to escape, to reach out for help, and finally trying to attack Bear.
After Nikki was SAd, the Entity was actively having to work to Protect Bear from Actual Nikki. Nikki also stepped the sabotage. Entity wouldn’t know what Bear might actually love to eat. Maybe Nikki suggested the cat would be great, then maybe some pictures with cute notes. ❤ 🙃

I appreciate that if you miss something you go back and catch it. Most reactors don't and then you just watch them be confused about what they missed for the whole movie . Another great reaction :D

9:45  its a default panic response. when youre anxious or scared of rejection, your nerves already spike at "do you like me?" in a vacuum, let alone if she's asking this right after youve fumbled your "flirting" so bad that she's scolding you and clearly annoyed. rejection feels more likely now than at any other point, so you panic and say no, not because you want to deceive her but simply out of fear of that inevitable rejection. and you rationalize that tiny little lie as saving the confession for a better time and place

I'm a member and it's worth it!!
Great Reaction as always ❤.

Being in the industry , I’m proud to say that this movie especially being an independent movie is one of the best movies ever made !!! 👏👏👏🎬

Yes! Couldn't wait to see your reaction  😊

Amazing reaction ❤

Whether she's real / "Freaky" ,Nikki really is a damn good writer anytime ,I'll give her that. Those Creepy incest Hansel & Gretal and "Lay on the bed myself tonight" monologues sure are something ,not ordinary & easy to make it up.

When an English person starts a rant with “I’m not being funny, yeah-“ you know it’s about to be good 😂 Great reaction as always!

love your reaction

I literally just wished for this video

Discovered you tonight and omg you are friggin’ hilarious.  Instant follow. 😊

Thanks again for another great reaction ❤❤

This was a great reaction--plenty of relevant commentary, and you did rewind when you missed something. The only suggestion I would make is to watch this (or re-watch) with the captions turned on, as there are several passages that are spoken softly or in overlapping dialog which you might miss. For example, the conversation that Nikki and Sarah have at the table at the bar involves Nikki working on her book, Sarah's desire to get into art school (and how Ian isn't even aware of the status of her applications), and how Sarah doesn't want her to get in trouble for working on her book on the job as her Dad owns the store--like Nikki and Sarah actually care about each other as friends, which makes Sarah's later demise all the more tragic.
If you liked this movie, you should check out two earlier films with strong similarities, especially since Halloween is right around the corner:

--"Deathdream" is a 1972 film based on the same literary source (The Monkey's Paw) as Obsession, but involves a mother in denial about her son being killed in Vietnam and praying for his return. Which he does. There is also a traumatic pet incident and a disastrous double-date. No magic object is present, just a desperately fervent maternal wish. As in Obsession, a key subtext becomes: is the protagonist responsible for what happens, as they didn't really ask for this...

--"Play Misty For Me" is a 1971 film directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, where he plays a small town California DJ on a Jazz station who gets involved with a fan named Evelyn who gradually becomes extremely psychotic. She does everything Freaky Nikki does, and more! Includes a restaurant scene even more cringe-worthy than Nikk's! No supernatural overtones here, just plain old crazed psychotic infatuation. You'd be challenged to choose who is scarier, Evelyn or Nikki...

The One Wish Willow isn’t demonic. Writer-director Curry Barker has canonically said so.

It is a neutral power, the output of which depends on the nature, phrasing, and intention of the wisher.

Bear’s wish was perverse to begin with. It violated the autonomy of an innocent human being and basically reduced Nikki to his captive sex slave.

That wish in itself was enough to make him a villain.

What cemented his villainy was that even after it was clear to him that Nikki was suffering under the spell, he continued SA’ing her. FreakyNikki gave “consent” but it wasn’t RealNikki at all.

Think of the One Wish Willow as an LLM. Bear generated a prompt: “I wish Nikki Freeman would love me above everyone else in the fucking world.”

The LLM then took everything RealNikki was, with no regard for permission and her feelings, the way an LLM will harvest the work of others. It then overwrote and corrupted RealNikki into FreakyNikki, the version of Nikki that was compelled to follow Bear’s wish/prompt.

Bear was totally fine with using FreakyNikki’s body and basking in her adulation, even when he already knew it wasn’t the real thing. When she started going crazy, he only wanted his wish ALTERED because he still wanted her attention and sex. He only asked if the wish could be CANCELLED once FreakyNikki’s increasingly psychotic actions inconvenienced him and his dream turned into a living nightmare.

He ignored RealNikki’s plea for her to be killed and put out of her misery, asking “What’s so wrong with being with me?”

He never really LOVED Nikki. He only wanted her to satisfy his needs. Even in the end, he self-canceled not to set her free, but so he could escape the horrific consequences of his wish.

It was always ever about HIM.

Bear was 100% a villain. And if you can’t see that, you may need to reexamine your values.

Loved it! Was waiting for your reaction video! My current obsession is revisiting all things Dolly Parton. 🙏 😢
