"wow what a great cook you are, Dankyjabo" we all say in unison.

I love that your comment sections are giving you more knowledge of US culture than you would ever think of asking for 😂

Sugar, butter and rice is a a southern delicacy. But in my head it’s reserved for dessert, like poor man’s sweet treat. Not for salmon and rice.

Black southern woman here and the only time sugar goes in rice is if you’re making rice pudding. However, as a part of a meal, sugar does not go in rice.

A conversation I had once
Them: Where are you from?
Me: Chicago
Them: No like your grandparents and great-granparents.
Me: Oh! Mississippi! 😂😂

As a white southern American, this was commonly offered by my Granny as a “hot cereal” option for breakfast. Oatmeal, grits, or rice were cheap and filling. She was proud to offer it sweetened and would tell of hard times when they had to eat it plain.

Social media is like watching a circus, but for free

The videos remind me of those ppl in mascot costumes forcing that one guy to eat soup while he cries 😭😭

As a black American sugar in rice is a thing it’s more of a struggle meal in my household growing up something you’d eat as a snack or when you just ain’t got anything in the box it’s good too lol

I could never eat comfortably with a 6 ft 5 in old man standing behind me while I eat that's CREEPY!!

Oh, I actually grew up eating sugar on rice!! Im not black so i cant speak on whether its common for black americans, I got it from my parents, so its probably a southern thing. We'd also eat a lot of quick/cheap meals (microwave quesodillas, hot dogs with bread instead of buns, etc.) So it might just be a way to get creative with inexpensive ingredients 🤷‍♀️

black American here since I haven’t seen many in the comments(it’s been a lot of southern folks), in my family and from what I’ve seen sugar on rice is very much a thing. Other people are saying they had it as a treat but in my experience it’s either a thing that children do then grow out of or something that elders do. Honestly it’s more about preference than culture I feel.

Also side note— I’ve never been to Europe/Britain but the one thing I heear is many black Americans who go over there complain about is the many black brits are VERY adamant to know where they are “really from”. It just sucks because many of us don’t know where are roots lie so of course most people’s only answer is just going to be an “I don’t know”.

as a north carolinian, i’m hurt that you think we’re the most boring state when states like idaho + iowa exist 😭

Those veneers were given to them both FREE for promo by the fake dentist from Houston who is now in jail!!!

perfect timing. i was just looking for something to listen to while playing the sims

People that say Nigerian American usually have parents or grandparents or recent lineage from Nigeria. So it’s easy to tell, but for the rest of us that’s been here for hundreds of years. It’s usually harder if not impossible to know what part of Africa were from.

3:25 CRAZY analogy to use three minutes in 😭😭😭

One of the major disconnects I’ve noticed between black people born in America and black people born in a mainland African country is the fact that some people tend to look down on us for not knowing our origin points as if our ancestors being sold like wayfair chairs is an easily overcome issue. Also a lot of us, myself included, tend to have Native American heritage that they either aren’t aware of or have no way to trace due to the Trail of Tears etc. My dad was sure excited to trace back our criminal German origins though😐🙄

Netta explained once that they were born intersex but lean more towards female so identify as a women.

“That’s Haram as well” sent meeeee😂😂
