Finally someone cares about the Droid attack on the wookies

Hype for the series has most definitely not died out, my guy. Looking forward to the Battlefront II maps.

Never forget the millions of droidekas that have fallen in the Kashyyyk waters.

Spawn as sniper at pier 1.
Crouch by gonk.
Orbitally bombard dock 1 until match is over.

Hype for a generational game will never fade for those who got to experience it. You could finish this series 2 decades from now id still watch it.

Ki-Adi-Mundi: "What about the droid attack on the Wookiees?"

SWBF1: "In Galactic Conquest...."

This is the only map I was banned from a server playing on Xbox. I was in an AT-ST on the beach standing next to an R2 droid getting heals and got over a hundred kills, single handedly winning the game for my team. We barely won by reinforcement count. It still makes me smile.

Ah I remember this map. As a kid, playing the republic, I would take the jet trooper and fly to the separatist island from the treehouses and take the command post. From there I would take a tank and just start taking the beach using the separatist own armor vehicles. Man I love this map.

It's so funny to me that Droids can drown here, but in Polis Mesa in Battlefront 2 they can walk right outside and be fine. I remember accidentally discovering that with the Droideka in this level and going, "Wait, what?"

I feel like, when they would playtest maps, they would heavily favor era-appropriate factions for the map/planet in question based on their relevance in the movies of the same Star Wars time period.

To me, it seems like they really wanted that quasi-roleplay, immersive element to really hit, perhaps at the expense of more fine tuning.

I would say that, when these games came out, and especially the first one, the options for living a Star Wars power fantasy in video game form were limited.

There were the Dark Forces and Shadows of the Empire games, all great, but also focused on telling a story rather than emergent gameplay.  There were starfighting games, but those are rather different animals that scratch different itches.

But put yourself as a teenager or young adult back when the prequels were coming out.  Who didn't watch the cinematic battles on Geonosis or Kashyyk on the big screen and not immediately want to run home and live that battle (or when the relevant game eventually released, anyway)?

I think Battlefront II and especially I was very much vibe-designed.  Make it fun, but make it fast; skip the fit and finish so people get a blaster in their mitts as quickly as possible.

Can we talk about how beautiful the kashyyk maps are? Back when I was a little kid, I spent plenty of time looking at the water reflections. Even today I'm still impressed on how they managed each map aesthetically speaking. I'm currently playing the good old battefront games and damn... no doubt nostalgia is hitting pretty hard on my 30's.
Great video Ciudad! I've just recenly found your channel and it seems I got a lot catching up to do.

Cheers!

When I was in elementary school, all of the kids on my street would get together and play this game and we would usually only ever play this map because we all loved it.

This game was a great childhood distraction between the beatings growing up <3
And the fact that you take such a sophisticated approach to reviewing each level, campaign vs instant action, being honest about campaign maps like Kamino, it's made me play it again - making my own challenges per campaign level to add difficulty, and using this playlist and comments to figure new challenges to give an excuse to play it again now that I'm an adult who just gets whomped by work.

Thanks for giving me something to look forward to after night shift, great channel, could honestly listen to you analyze the damn gungan faction you are that good at it, and two of those units are identical XD

Another factor to the map for me, is how vehicles like to take the far left and right flanks sometimes....and can also inexplicably abandon them, allowing the defending team to get down there and steal them.

A favorite strategy of mine as defenders was to just camp the upper walkway as a sniper and keep sending the recon droids down for orbital strikes on the lower dock.

I don’t have much to say, again much success with your new job as a teacher and enjoy your Sunday, stay safe ciudad.

0:12 😂😂😂proud to be part of this crowd

I remember at age 11, playing this map on repeat with my brother on our PS2, while blasting I'm a Barbie Girl on our CD player. Good times

The Empire on Kashyyyk:
"Die rebel scum!"
1 hour later:
"Hey, where did our walkers go?"
Another hour later:
"THE FUR BAGS ARE SWARMING US!"

On a more serious note I've always thought the imperials had a rough time on this map. Glad to see someone noticed that too. I'll try to make it to the stream. Hopefully be seeing everyone there. (:

I played so much of both games when I was a kid, I had the fan favorites disc set so I spent all my time on bf1/2/republic commandos, civ V and supreme commander FA.

During the pandemic I discovered modding but before I modded 1 or 2 I downloaded the original star wars saga mod which included both full games in one with a different UI and the HD textures/upgraded shaders and class changes. I think docks was the first map I replayed since I was a kid. I'm still discovering amazing modded BF2 maps to this day, there's just so many.

I loved this map as a kid, it was like storming the beaches of Normandy.
