Babe wake up, whatever the fuck this is just dropped.

Still waiting for a 1 square packing improvement

Showing both the before and after size to see the incremental decrease in perimeter size would have improved these comparisons so much.

seeing new mathematical advancements with my own 2 eyes feels weird

The one thing I wish this video had were the sizes for the old boxes as well as the new. Without that we don't know how much better the new solutions are.

damn less than .001 units saved on the 87 and 53 solutions

(likely not an error if anyone's wondering btw as 68 DOES have a difference but it's .002)

i can't help but read the title in the same tone of voice as "NEW SILKSONG NEWS!"
and then i remember it's about arranging squares inside a larger square

It still breaks my mind how the solutions to any of these can be asymmetric. Like there’s no set and stone rule that the most efficient solution would be, but it still feels like it should in a way that’s “correct” that I can’t explain

Now do circle packaging and circle canvas

seeing new mathematical advancements with my own 5 eyes feels weird

3:07 if you horizontally flip one of the solutions, they look a little more similar... just a little

New shakeups in the square packing meta

Doing the eye crossing 3D effect with the side by sides is fun. The very slight differences make the changes look slightly 3D, while the larger changes “glow,” as I’ve seen it called before, where it looks like an error in a game where two surfaces have the exact same distance from the camera and the game has no idea how to properly display that, so it flickers.

I think the coolest thing about this is the ideas the patterns give about where there is room to optimize solutions

I like packing squares into squares in a squarishly square way

I wonder how hard it actually is to find one of these

Imagine the pure joy when the authors find out one by one that their efforts have been made into a YT video

I can’t even begin to imagine what a general solution to square packing would look like. There are literally an infinite amount of solutions as far as I know.

Honey wake up, new Deckard vid dropped

I love how obsessed i am with the square packing problem
