Obtain the final valuable letter, poison the bag, throw off your opponent's timing and embarrass the engine. Very nice move.

There is one other mitigating factor that makes it harder here. Johnson's clock was so low it was going to be nearly impossible to play fast enough. Nigel is a clock Master always pushing an opponent on time.

Scrabble theory is still underdeveloped as it is so much newer than games like Go (and has less funding for engines). It's great to see Nigel push this forward. I like Morris's take. This is a principle that has been thought of, it's just so rare that it gets used. I will certainly take inspiration from this!

It seems to be learning the words is more like learning chess openings so you can begin to play the actual positional and tactical game of Scrabble.

I don't know how to create a Quackle sim where it is assumed that the opponent does NOT have a C, so I set up a sim with the following parameters - Generate 50 moves, add exchange EELLT, specify opponents rack as DEIRSTU (Mike's actual rack) and many ply sim. After 1,000 iterations the second best play was (YEN)TE with a win percentage of 94.15%. ALLEE was in 12th place with 83.85% win. The top move? Exchange EELLT with a win percentage of 100%!!!
