Interesting story ya got there, kid! Let's see if you got what it takes to rewrite it!

Music managed by Materia Collective

Gerson - Darby Cupit (https://waveformvoiceacting.com/) (https://bit.ly/DarbyCupit)
Susie - Brodingles (https://linktr.ee/Brodingles)

Gake (Twitter: GakenotJake) (@gakenotjake)
Izzie Lotl (@izzielotl)
Kyle Wright (http://bit.ly/KyleWright)
MaidenOfMine (@maidenofmine)
Shiloh K. (Twitter: kae_vo)
UprisingAttorney (https://bit.ly/UprisingAttorney)

Lyrics by Juno Songs (https://bit.ly/JunoSongs)
Main Vocal Timing by Darby Cupit
Chorus Timing by Tom Previte (tenebrismo.tumblr.com ) (Twitter: TenebrismoVA) (tenebrismo)
Chorus Tuning by MaidenOfMine
Mix by Stelyos (https://bit.ly/stelyos)
Art by Kaola Rivas (https://linktr.ee/kaola_rivas) and NamoDraws (https://linktr.ee/NamoDraws)

(Deltarune, as of the release of this video, is not a complete game. Not every chapter is released. I thus cannot make a full Deltarune the Musical, and with Materia Collective's copyright claims sweeping across YouTube, doing so is a highly unlikely prospect even when completed. Please do not harass Materia Collective!)

Gerson being one of the hidden bosses is something that used to be wild fanfic in undertale times, now he is probably one of the best vibe fights that toby has ever done.

I choose to believe "you must be bold and brave" is a reference to Alvin's drawing in the old classroom, which might itself be a reference to squidward's "bold and brash"

Something I loved about this fight is how it was partially a conversation.

Unlike the other secret bosses, they weren’t just babbling nonsense to themselves or talking to a brick wall. Gerson and Susie were talking to EACHOTHER. And honestly, the duet at the end delivers on that.

This is a compliment but he sounds like a country man who isn’t an alcoholic and goes fishing at 6 every Sunday

2:37 “Don’t you dare, Give up that smile” as opposed to Undyne’s “Don’t you dare give me that smile” in ‘Battle Against a True Hero’ is just one of few reasons this song is a love letter. Also Brodingles triumphant return is another pleasant surprise (not that they left, just good seeing them sing again).

Now I can't wait for "Need a Hand!?" Where Darby Cupit interrupts Darby Cupit to help our heroes!

Once again like in a Field of Hopes and Dreams, Susie sings off the tune of the music. A beautiful comparison, where before she defied because she did not want to stick around with the fate, now she is fighting to change fate

0:54 - haven't been in the MOTI game for a hot minute but you do not wanna know how bad i freaked out when i recognized this from undertale the musical 😭😭

I love how Gerson mocks Jevil's idea of "freedom". Jevil found his own freedom, albeit in a twisted sense due to the Shadow Crystal, while Gerson found his own without the Shadow Crystal.

All this time I've wondered why Susie was singing out of harmony with Gerson. Only now I realize it's her carving her own path and or a reference to the third Sanctuary

@Lumamations 11 months ago

Gerson definitely has an entire Darkner choir to back him up.

1:48 Even the cameraman couldn't resist jamming out to this song

Ough, the wide smile on my face at all the build up into Susie finally going off... Waiting that long for her to start singing makes it so genuinely feel like she was listening and absorbing what Gerson was saying for me, and it made the flow of the song so satisfying. To say nothing of the two particular melodies she decides to go for.

2:10 How did I only just realize that this is a reference to Gerson's being an author (since the 'Hero's journey' is a common writing... trope? Stencil?)

@galaxycamerata 11 months ago (edited)

Love that you kept Susie's refusal to sing on-tune with with the main melody like in the Chapter 1 covers. But instead of simply having her own melody, she begins echoing ones that are flirted with but never fully used in the song itself while remaining completely thematic.

She just instinctively clicks with the ideals The Hammer is trying to teach her. Of bravery, hope, and justice.

DARBY’S OLD

I love how Susie’s lyrics start off at the beat of Battle against a true hero the turns to Mettaton Neo

@enate9234 11 months ago

4:02 The power of Neo reference filled my soul with joy and nostalgia

@ApolloOwOMoments 11 months ago

Gerson really hits us with "there's a light inside your soul" but differently worded

@jackzillanyanut2795 11 months ago

2:44 I know it happens before this but GOD is this such a cool touch, the harmony of all the voices in a choir (since it’s in a church) is such a badass addition

@Merlin-860 7 months ago

I'm just realizing

Gerson is a nimble old turtle, a set of inherent contradictions, teaching Susie to have hope, trust herself and believe in her own abilities when she's been shunned for trying to do that for what seems like a good bit of her early childhood.

It's a set of contradictions to expectations teaching someone who follows what is expected of them to contradict expectations.

This is to show the amazing characterization and attributes of Deltarune characters, but also the lyrics here compliment this idea; "I was always told that my choices mean nothing," "I don’t want an ending, i want it to continue," "Fate is mine to best," etc.

Absolute cinema ✋️😔🤚
