How many houseplants do you own?

I have one large houseplant. Not because I limit myself, but because it's all I want to have to take care of.

The system teaches us to attach meaning to things so we keep accumulating. We don't have to play along 💚

I allow only one plant per room. I no longer want the plant clutter or watering. Looks more spacious.

There are plenty of places that would enjoy plants: think of hospitals, nursing homes, schools, plant nurseries, possibly shelters, charity locations

I even decluttered my gardens. Toned every thing down. I need my garden to feel Zen...not exhausting.  Now it's my joy cause it's easy.

I have posted both indoor and outdoor plants on buy nothing groups and have been successful in re-homing many plants.  The receivers are happy to get them.

Amanda your message was lovely. I loved when you said “I am officialy out of friends who want just one more plant”😂😂😂 your plants are taking many hours of your time. I have 3 beautiful plants: two big and  one small. Enough to bring me joy without overwhelming me with more work. And I do love plants.

Any time someone wants to give me something, especially if I am helping them declutter, I always say yes, and then I move it forward however I see fit.  It's my way to help them and relieves them of the burden of what to do with said thing(s).

Donate to a nursing home. They would love plants!

So helpful :) My approach was to decide the maximum number of plants I would ideally enjoy in each room. Then I kept that many of my favourite pots. So I refuse to house more plants than can be housed in my favourite terracotta. This boundary has served me really well!

What about donating some plants to a nursing home?

TK had a wonderful answer

If l walk into a home with loads of plant clutter l feel it. It's too visibly distracting. I don't like the overwhelm visually.

Your desire is endless but ability has limits is powerful indeed!

I capped out on plants and aboiding nurseries for the past 2 years. Except annual containers refreshing. But I go and only biy what I went for.
Learning to admire without acquring it is a blessing!😂

Here's an idea:  Take several plants to a public place with care instructions.  Then offer complete strangers a plant!

I feel like this about my “floating doll orphanage houseboat box.” It’s just a plastic under -the-bed box but was a whole imaginative world to me in my childhood. I grew up on missionary stories like Amy Carmichael and Gladys Alyward and so had had this little box intended was a house boat and my two older dolls sailed around the world rescuing “children” (mostly homemade dolls, cereal box toy animals and the like) and they were just one big happy family all with different rooms and loaded with becomes and dried flowers and all little trinkets of my childhood.  I feel like I made a pact with them when I was a kid that I would always believe they were real and now I’m like Peter Pan or something and can’t bare to let them down 😂.  I’m sure the Toy Story movies haven’t helped 🤣!! But I remember feeling sorry for my mom’s “keep sake” dolls who never got played with when I was a little girl and don’t want to have it sit around with my children thinking the same thing! She be let them select a few of anything of interest to them out of it so it’s changed some and that’s the beginning of my letting go I suppose.
I should have known this was coming, as a kid I also remember on one account weeping over the song that says “turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace,” and imagining all my dolls faces fading away and telling God I was okay with that.
