How do you keep your living room clutter free?

1)  Lots of framed pictures
2)  Piles of mail
3)  Extra, unnecessary furniture
4)  Visible cables & wires
5)  Small decor & knick-knacks
6)  Excess blankets & throws
7)  Items that don't get used in the living room

taking down all the framed photos and putting them in a drawer gave me peace

I have no idea who came up with that nonsense—that as a minimalist, you're not allowed to have any comfort or express your individuality. It's just ridiculous. 😂😂

taking down all wall art also gave me such peace! i chose a few of them and put them in different places than they were originally and that makes me so happy to see them in different light literally

This is me and my wife. I’m super minimalist, but my wife isn’t. At least she curates her stuff so it looks nice — it’s basically just copying trends from Facebook. For example, I prefer a blank wall to one with some low-cost art from Hobby Lobby, but blank walls cause my wife some anxiety. I’ve learned to just be okay with it as long as it can be clean and clutter free. As long as it’s not in my way or making tasks more difficult I’ve chosen to live with some of her choices. It’s not always a compromise. Most of the time I simply chose to be unbothered.

I have my kids pics up and I love seeing them!

I switched to only having metal, wood, or glass decor. I have very few plastic decorations now, and it feels so much better. I also picked 2 colors, black and gold, and try to only have decor within the color scheme with the occasional dark green

I like the analogy " don't keep heroin in your home"

Outside, there is a magnificently beautiful natural world.  To ‘require’ yourself to have blank walls indoors seems unnatural and or legalistic.

10/26. I have a shoebox of decorations for each holiday or season. My neighbor rents a 10x 10 storage space for her various decorations. I think minimalism is
a matter of degree. I have 4 magnets on my fridge. A friend has probably 100. Tina, Al's wife

Set that TV up as your digital picture frame. If you use iCloud Photos and have an Apple TV, you can even set your photo library as an endless screensaver, making this super easy to do.

I don’t have any of the mentioned things in the vid. I have one framed photo and that is our wedding day photo. Love my minimalist lifestyle. Love the channel lads ❤

minimalists don’t have framed pictures and not only in their living room. They just don’t.

Hellooooo, art on the walls was forever

Kind of agree with the photos issue. There's no need. dusty memories on display, for what? If it's important enough to frame then it's not likely to be forgotten, negating the need to frame it. Walls are for either blankness or a few select art pieces.

I live alone and I write I actually set up my desk in the living room but use the coffee table more often for journaling and writing. I have accumulated a bunch of clutter papers notes etc on the couch and on my desk I feel stuck as Im afraid to put them away because with me if I don’t see it I forget where it is and that I even have it! I need help but I don’t know what I’d be asking help with as I have to go through everything myself but I’d like company when I’m going through boxes of paperwork etc… 😣

I’m usually on the same page with you guys, but this discussion sounded like rage baiting. I agree with Joshua that too many of anything, including framed photos, is too much But not having any framed photos of family or friends is a personal choice, not a guideline for minimalism. I don’t have framed pictures because society told me to. I like seeing pictures of my children and my grandmothers because 1) my children are now young adults and 2) My grandmothers are dead.

Why not take your minimalist ideas to the extreme? Who needs a refrigerator— purchase what you need for meals daily and discard the leftovers. Don’t purchase lamps. Rely on nature’s light, then go to bed.

And, no TK. Society didn’t always have TVs. But that’s not a sufficient argument for not having one. Society didn’t always  have antibiotics or insulin. The people who needed them just died. I hope you wouldn’t argue that modern medicine is just clutter.
