I would have waited behind the dumpster.

another old ghost amp saved from the grave - - thanks for sharing your interesting experience with this beautiful and collectible amp

Great presentation. I live 11 miles from McIntosh Labs. While working in McIntosh service department I worked on a number of MC240, 275 and C22

Good work! Love to see the “old stuff” saved. Especially the equipment from some of the more respected brands.

Glad you were able to save this piece of history. Not only do you now have a working unit, but you have an awesome story to go along with it.

Glad you were able to revive this old amp properly!

Sounds like they went to the Guitar Center school of business. “OMG we’re going broke!”… and then people find entire guitars thrown in their dumpsters.

That’s cool, Keep up the good videos

Cool! Good luck!

What a long strange trip it's been. I'm so glad that you saved this legend from the landfill. This is a legacy amp that can be passed down to your grandchildren. My grandma passed down their 1936 Silvertone Radio to me and it is my most valuable possession. It still works and is all original.

Expensive repair job

It’s a great story, I think the point we can all share is how this amp demanded you engage with it to find system synergy. The joy is when it responds and shows you what it can do. This is what makes it such a fun hobby…even when it’s frustrating. Humans love problem solving. 😑

Great find man!

Wonderful stuff! Well done all involved xx

Great find! Yes, you've saved a bit of history With it restored you can USE it and try even more components with it. Those old McIntosh amps (well all McIntosh gear) have a certain coolness to them. Yes, I have a couple of more recent pieces.

Very cool. Congratulations on a beautiful piece of kit from Binghamton NY!

It wasn't gonna be thrown out.

I run the Mac amplification today with Ohm Walsh 2, Mofi Sourcepoint 8, Vandersteen 2c, Sonus Faber Cremona and in the distant past used smaller Advents, and before that Infinitys with polycell tweeters.

Aaron, this is your greatest audio adventure you’ve  shared on the channel. It wasn’t my money or effort or anxiety but, as a lover of vintage things, I am always pleased when someone takes a chance on an old thing and brings it back to life versus buying something new. New audio tech has its appeal too but, there’s something extra special about this era of audio. Yes, you spent a lot of money and I hope you hold onto it forever. When the day comes that your heirs sell this thing, they will likely double or more your investment. Thank you so much for taking this gamble and thank you for sharing this. I hope this amp brings you and your family and friends years of pleasurable listening.
