I once met Joe at the grocery store, as I walked out he took my groceries then called me a slur and walked off. Thanks Joe❤️

Stop saying it didn’t happen, it did

24:28 Stephen King actually said that he’d refuse The Long Walk to be adapted if they sanitized the violence.
He wouldn’t allow any ‘cutaway’ deaths because he felt it was important and central to the story’s commentary on the rat race and the Vietnam War to showcase the brutality.
And I agree, i don’t think it would’ve been as impactful without it.

"This is how I'd win, I'd do everything optimal", bro is that kid making up rules and powers as you play so he can't lose. Like yeah dude, no shit, you do everything optimal in this hypothetical but you're insane if you think even 50% of your plans will go perfectly in this.

Imagine joining and then just seeing fucking David Goggins

In the book, the fact there was 100 guys and they were walking faster made it so much worse

someone in chat said “how is this legal”

I think ppl forget that when ppl start making dumb decisions like the guy running at the 100 mile mark its because they are genuinely delirious and cannot think straight

17:12 "why is it all guys?" stephen king wrote it during the vietnam war, when young boys were enlisting or getting drafted and considered themselves special, that the war was an adventure and that they'd be immune to the horrors, and the walk acts as a metaphor for it. in fact, stephen king only allowed the movie to be made if it was explicitly shown that the boys would die or it defeats the purpose

I hate when people who've obviously never trained in their life says "Dude I'd just train every day of my life and get super ripped and win this easily!" like no bro you don't even have the motivation to not be fat

That's where you  pull out the dead possum

45:35  as a reader of the book, I found this fucking hilarious that Joe said he should have just ran into the woods at night and that’s literally what he does in the book and he still gets shot

"Let the young man in his desperation go out and hunt. If he kills an elephant, his poverty ends. If the elephant kills him, his poverty ends" type shit

joe would accept death in the long walk as soon as there is a hill they need to surpass

Bruh if you don’t have a thigh gap this whole thing would be a chafing nightmare.

31:16 the movie undersells this part, in the book they spend a whole night constantly telling him he’s a monster and don’t stop till he willingly stops walking and takes a bullet

could’ve used barkovitches body as a shield for the aerodynamic wind movement

Then I pull out my roller skates and mog everyone

Collie’s death is even sad af bro, it’s even sadder rewatching, he manages to kill one of the soldiers before he pauses to look at the other guys for backup but none of them step up to join him. He could have easily gotten the soldier that ends up killing him but instead he goes down outnumbered without his friends 😭

1:03:40 - what's even cooler about that foreshadowing is that the major doesn't just say "good luck" to Stebbins, he specifically says "good luck SON"

POV: How parents explained what going to school was like back in the day.
