I fear nothing. Because we can’t even perceive nothing. Nothing is conceptualized commonly as a black void, but a black void is something. Nothing is just nothing. Absence. Lack thereof. This intrinsically makes death also scary for me. Because what if death truly is your return to nothing. I don’t want to be nothing. I’m attached to the present.

0:00 Modern day philosopher that likes dead possums starts talking

its crazy how joe can add almost 30 minutes to a video while still having substance and hold interest

I think less than 1% of Joes twitch chat was able to comprehend what he was saying throughout this reaction.

Plague doctors get clowned for thinking smell was what transmits, but they really weren't far off, they knew to quarantine and that their masks did help, albeit not the most effective. I wonder if they associated death with the smell of decomposition.

I had an auditory hallucination once, scared me on a level I didn’t know was possible, since then not much scares me. The one thing that scares me the most is the idea of losing myself, like losing my mind or memory or getting Alzheimer’s, that shit is terrifying

24:56 it’s like dressing up as epstine. It totally takes away the energy and horrors of what actually happened.

13:38 Joe started talking about yawning and I immediately started yawning lol

You're awesome man! Really love how much you added to it that I didn't even think about. Also, sorry if it was a bit too dark, appreciate you!

do NOT watch dis on shrooms

7:40 well joe, there was a study done where they placed todlers near a optical allusion that made it look like a long fall, and none of them wanted to crawl off.

"i wonder why the wait for the philosophy vids are so long?"
joes chat:

I love that you brought up how dressing up as real serial killers is wrong, this is something not talked about enough. They’re not people to be celebrated and disrespectful to the family still alive

14:02 yawning has to do with empathy. Cops do it during interrogation to see if the person is psychopathic or has tendencies of a psychopath. Obv it’s not only based off that but if someone can’t yawn at all when they see someone else it’s bc they are missing empathy

This video is 48 minutes long and the original is 15 minutes long- Joe has spoken for 33 minutes of this video and yet kept me fully engaged. Bro is truly a genius

The real question here is; Who had the first yawn? And what did the people around that Witnessed the first yawn think, when they instinctively yawned too?

i will always renber this from Subnautica: “This ecological biome matches 7 of the 9 preconditions for stimulating terror in humans.”

You know you shitting yourself when you can't even believe what you're seeing, and instead of screaming or humming or whatnot, you just hyperventilate and feel chest aches.

It makes people justify harm. A lot of cruelty, oppression, and violence comes from fear of losing power, safety, identity, or control. It freezes growth. Fear keeps people stuck, in bad relationships, bad beliefs, bad systems, because change feels riskier than suffering. It spreads easily. Fear is contagious. One scared person can panic a room, a crowd, or an entire society. It hides behind logic. People will say “I had no choice” or “I was protecting myself,” when fear is actually making the decisions.
