“She’s inexperienced” says the woman who’s never made an animated show in her life.

Kiana is frankly OVERQUALIFIED to make indie animation. Like disgustingly so. How she doesn't have a fully funded full length season behind her is beyond me. PPIDWTBAMG could not be in better hands.

"it's overanimated. the characters are too expressive" like cartoons are? and always have been???

Bad-mouthing indie animators while you are one yourself is just such a dumb move, like, dude, those are your coworkers!!!😅

The fact ppl are saying it's appropriation despite the fact Kiana is Blasian. Her mom is Japanese!! By birth that makes her Japanese too. That's her culture too.

Kiana doesn't even have to be Blasian to make a magical girl cartoon—it's just a genre, and it didn't even originate in Japan.

The racism/envy blinders is so fucking obvious it literally hurts. What other reason would you have to NOT do any research. This is literally the most huh? controversy I've seen.

The person's lack of art experience is the cherry on top for me. They do not have enough art experience themselves to confinently stand by the claim that Kiana has only done art. Any experienced artist or animator can see her experience oozing out of her animatics. Her shot composition, her timing, her consistency, it is all signs of a person who has worked in the industry.

"this indie animated show is over-animated" oh nooooo, the steak is too juicy? the lobster is too buttery? how unfortunate.

Girly DESPERATELY needed to do an iota of research before she started throwing shade at Kiana. The jealousy is ASTOUNDINGLY obvious and glaring.

"I've never gone to art school." I was unaware the use of the color picker tool required a degree.

Exaggerated animation is one of the primary tools of animated comedy.

This is why you do your research before making an "analysis" video on something

Her apology is full of it, focusing on her cruddy coloring and not the part that matters most. The thing she should be apologizing for is her sheer disrespect for Kiana Khansmith, a blasian woman who is a highly accomplished animator and director. And then basically just called her someone who just does art. We really do have to work ten times as hard to get a fraction of the respect, don’t we? It’s genuinely vile she doesn’t say a word about how she basically tried to diminish Kiana to bolster her tenuous point.

And the last thing she should be doing as an adequate indie artist and animator is to badmouth an indie pilot in this specific way. She’s basically telling potential collaborators and other artists in the community that she’s poison and shouldn’t be touched.

"I DIDN'T GO TO ART SCHOOL" AFTER SHE TALKS ABOUT HOW INEXPERIENCED KIANA IS. That's insane. Girl, do you hear yourself??? And not going to art school has nothing to do with your whitewashing???

So Yan’s take is she didn’t like that an animated cartoon is…animated and cartoony??? Bsf 😂

Who even cares if the creator of the pilot was actually "inexperienced"??? All that would show is that for their first foray into indie animation, they worked their butt off to create something of quality. That's not a bad thing.

As a fellow artist who has never gone to art school yet. You don't need a degree to know how not to whitewash black characters and use the excuse of having a bad colour palette. It's not that hard chief

She has color picked a POC Roblox character before, she can color skin tones correctly but just chose not to here. She is capable, she chose to make them grey. Do not let her fool you.
