Sociologist here! It's sexualizing and romanticizing an extremely traumatic hostage situation some women faced, because MOST women worked! The modern day version of trad wife is mixing the poor farming lifestyle with the wealthy women lifestyle, because actual trad wives had house keepers and nannies to do all the chores they just existed to be trapped in a cage breeding kids all day. Farming women did all the chores then some, and had kids out of work necessity, not want. We study this in sociology, its intriguing how the grifters sell this as something that existed in our society yet it never did. Its a Frankenstein nightmare that combines two traumas at best.

the sub begging just gets more & more creative every video i’m crying 😭😭

13:29 There are already "ex tradwives" who were divorced at like 28 with nothing to their name. One creator I saw made a series to show how she's rebuilding her whole life from scratch.

Idk about feminism being "on form ground" in the USA where a 12 yr old rape victim had to illegally cross state borders to get access to reproductive healthcare (abortion)

everyone keeps asking “what if u break up?”
but also.. what if ur partner dies? what if there’s a tragic accident & now they need 24/7 care?
it’s so much more than just not believing in the relationship.
life is difficult & unpredictable, especially nowadays.

As a woman in the US and specifically a resident of Texas, rights have already been taken from us. We are already seeing regression and it is terrifying. I am scared.

It’s not even strictly divorce these women need to worry about. If anything ever happens where the husband is unable to work, gets fired, is no longer alive, etc, these women are just absolutely screwed with no way to make money or provide for their family in place of the income gap.

Being a trad wife is terrifying cus it means your life & wellbeing is at someone else’s mercy & while most wannabe/recent trad wives will counter w/ “my husband’s not like that!”, unfortunately the same thing was said by the women who were abused by their partners, beaten, starved, isolated, confined to the house, even killed—no woman gets into a marriage/ relationship w/ a man believing he could do that to them, which is why it’s so naive to think you’re the exception & that those women “should’ve just married a better man”, seemingly unable to acknowledge or understand that people are capable of change including for the worse, including your husband.

So my best friend since kindergarten was mormon and lived this lifestyle and had 4 kids one after another immediately after marriage...she ended her life last year...her postpardum was too much after 4 kids. The pressure...this lifestyle  can be very dangerous..i love her so much and the world lost an incredible person when we lost her..

my mom was also engaged at 18 and married at 19 but you know what else she did? she pursued a career that was meaningful to her and went to college to be a nurse. she raised my brother and i in between night shifts at the hospital but you know who else helped raise me and spent time with me when my mom was working? MY DAD. they both had thriving careers AND took care of two children because they worked TOGETHER. now almost 40 years later they are still together and have their own lives independent of each other but still manage to spend lots of time together. what these newer trad wives seem to want is to be indentured servants, not someone’s partner. it’s just so sad and destined for failure.

17:44 I think a lot of the nihilism toward college now at least in the United States is that its essentially impossible to not leave without massive debt that you will spend the next years paying off unless you were well off enough to probably never have to go to college anyways

Not to mention, it gets lonely. I was raised in a trad household for a long time. My mom eventually got a job, not because of financial problems but because she was bored. Constantly being stuck at home cleaning and taking care of kids is draining. A lot of women are attracted to the idea of having all that free time to do whatever they want, but it just ends up driving you crazy. It won’t be nice after 20 years dealing with it.

0:29 i was playing sims while watching and i thought my whole pc was gonna crash 😭

My problem with the conversation surrounding trad wives and traditional gender roles is that it is a tool for oppression because it can't be separated from racism, homophobia and classism. As you said in the video, the nuclear family is something that was only accessible to wealthy, white, two parent families. Historically we know that black families who attempted to obtain this lifestyle were often attacked and driven out of the white picket fence neighborhoods.
It is not accessible to queer families at all, it is not accessible to single parent households. Plus gender norms are inherently colonial. It's not possible to separate the lifestyle from it's historical context, so this wave of this trend where people don't look into the actual social consequences the nuclear traditional family has had is so frustrating.

I hate when people don't reflect how their individual choices are a reflection of broader society.

I feel as though that girl's statement about being told to live her live and "not knowing what that means" is incredibly telling all on its own. How could you possibly know what "living your life" is meant to look like if you've never been given the chance to explore and figure it out for yourself?

0:32 I THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS BREAKING. Danky is it worth it. Is it worth a few subs for these full skits. Its too creative

6:48 Its also super duper illegal since it means her private flight information was shared without her consent

7:39 i dont know, theyre attacking abortion rights in the uk right now, google is putting out ads against it and look what happened in so many states in america as well as how its current regime is going after womens right to vote by the whole voters ID changes and right wing promises to stop women from being in the workforce. i think women should take warnings from history how easily the rights and freedoms so hard won can easily be reversed if theyre not heavily guarded and fought for should really be looked at seriously. Especially because women have only JUST won back so many of those rights and freedoms.

Being a trad wife is my worst nightmare
