Holy shit he's actually breaking down the history of the Goths

Goth and Emo have become so overused that they are now interchangeable used to describe anything that’s slightly dark or edgy

Visigoths didn’t die for this ... 😭😭

I blame shein for half of this and tiktok for the other half.

TikTok ruined the word goth for me… like yes you dress alternative but if you don’t listen to goth music you’re NOT goth

As a rare goth—the fetishisation of goth has made going out and about quite scary. I’m just a guy who likes synth and crunchy bass. The things people have said to me in real life are WILD

Came here thirsting for goth girls and left with knowledge about the Roman empire.

As an Ostrogoth myself, i am glad that i never installed tiktok on my tablet

As a goth woman, the "representation" on the internet is just very frustrating

Never underestimate the impact of Elvira.

Lolita fashion is completely different from that novel wtf

Goth music Woman here , I have not washed my hair in days , I've been listening to the same darkwave cassette mix and switching it up to roxy music for some spice for 3 days, Do not send help. sincerely graduated in 1993. The roman empire with tik tok would be terrifying .

The world is post music. It's a society of profiles and spectacles.

"Let's talk about goths. BAM! ROMAN HISTORY LESSON!"  - Coolea doing YouTube kungfu.

just in reference to gothic lolita, the purpose of the fashion has always been about self expression without being sexualised (its actually a very modest fashion!!) as well as combining the "cute and creepy" elements of the pre-existing gothic style and cuter, more girly fashion (all thanks to the band malice mizer's mana-sama!) the history is incredibly rich and the image often isn't perceived in the intended way, so its a bit frustrating seeing people think it's for pedos :(

As someone into goth girls waaay before it was cool, what people call "goth" these days enrages me. They also don't know the difference between "goth" and "gothic" music
