Being "alt" is trendy now is co-opted by people who can afford the look and lifestyle and care about the clout

Every culture is cooked

Modern hippies are unintentionally hilarious

Lmao hippie brand start up money coming from an arms dealer is just chefs kiss

“A punk is a good person playing bad. A hippie is a bad person playing good.”

There are still a ton of hippies living a "true" hippie experience, it's just that most of them aren't on social media. Also "traditional" hippie festivals can be highly criminalized because in th 60's safety laws didn't exist (at Woodstock they lifted the light guys in a bin attached to a crane). There is simply no big hippie communities because that thing cannot be done anymore

Like you mentioned in your Black Sabbath video, actual poor people couldn't be hippies. They had to work for their money and couldn't afford to stink and be shoeless all day.

I heard someone say "hippies are the meanest, most judgemental people on earth cosplaying as the nicest people on earth"

I love how hippies have somehow yet again wrapped around back to the first step, which is to come from a very rich and well-off family and feeling the need to preach to others how EVERYONE ELSE needs to be more mindful of themselves, but they don't because they've already unlocked the secret!

Fairly certain that first girl is just an OF "content creator", using the hippie/nature aesthetic to that end. // So according to Wikipedia, she is actually a musician that gained fame via social media in the early 2020s. I don't know at what point she started doing OF and at what point she adopted this parody of a hippie look.

Influencers are the glitter mixed into the grey sludge of the post-modern world. There's an aesthetic for everyone if your attention span is short enough, but the shared message between them is to relinquish yourself to the god machine that lives in the realm beyond the black mirror.

Where's Cartman when you need him?

Dude .. I recently adopted a pet hippie because i thought she was cute and now I'm buying her weed at 11pm on a work night. I'VE LOST CONTROL OF MY LIFEEEEEEEE

Most original hippies had well off parents. It’s always been big with the middle class, people who have the money to sit in the middle of the road all day with an orange sign instead of going to work that week

Hippie culture was ALWAYS COOKED.

I'm an old punk who wound up in the hippy and burner subcultures through being a fire performer. The cognitive dissonance within that space is fucking WILD.

tbh the OG hippies you find in musty pubs and sometimes festivals can be really cool people. Not always ofc but sometimes some real G's

At first I was like "wait, isn't that what the original hippies basically were back then?" and then the second half hit. Good video on the subject Coolea.

she has tacked so much stuff onto her that has circled back into being some sort of hipped themed decora chick

2C-B Gremlin. i'm stealing that one. 🤣
