Sweet lord. I see "industry plant" has replaced "sellout" as a phrase to insult an artists you're unfamiliar with and/or dislike.

saying “why don’t they just print more money” in a room full of men just to feel something

@golferdadgreg 1 year ago

men will literally live under a rock and then blame a woman for why he doesnt know who she is

The internet’s algorithm has removed peoples’ object permanence lol. Just because you don’t know a person and they’re not in your internet echo chamber does not mean their art has not impacted millions!

chappell is so outwardly anti-industry it always makes me laugh when people call her an industry plant like ????

@subteraneanhomesickalien 1 year ago

'I havent heard a single song from this woman" like ok??? thats your problem not hers

@jamie4707 1 year ago

Do they not remember that her name is Doechii with two i’s? Have they forgotten that she gets anxious when she’s high??

@icecreamsandwich79 1 year ago

"i've never heard of them" "they popped out of no where" pisses me OFF so badly as if you are aware of every single musician out there at any particular moment it's like how people say tate mcrae came out of no where but she's been famous since she was a young child as not just a professional dancer but a child PRODIGY then started posting original songs on yt weekly as a preteen and I still see 5000 tweets about her "coming out of no where" and being an industry plant. Just because you didn't know of them before does not mean they just plopped center stage already famous

Men will say Doechii didn’t deserve her Grammys then will go and praise whatever train wreck Kanye is making

@Fromthesouthtotokyo 1 year ago

She doesn’t make rap music for white men , that’s why they don’t know her. She is very authentic to HER EXPERIENCE as a black woman.

I love how in her mixtape she talks about her label actively trying to control what she does and instead she defies it. Very industry plant.

doechi is so talented and authentic how could ppl even say thattttt

@littledesires444 1 year ago

is she a industry plant..or is she just a black,young and talented woman?

Fellow Tampa resident and can say, Doechii has a strong presence in the local music community here and went to a public magnet high school which specialized in the arts (in a low socioeconomic area near downtown). She even visited the hs recently to give a speech to kids in the same program. By no means do people here see as a plant. Just hard work and talent

i don't understand why people can't dislike someones music without disrespecting how far they've come. you don't have to listen to her or even like her as a person to appreciate that she is a genuine artist.

Most of the time black artists are NOT industry plants…folks just act surprised when the see us winning and want to blame it on something negative

@kylielohse2305 1 year ago

the whole idea of ppl saying “industry plants” is just men denying the fact that these women like doechii have worked SO HARRDDDD to get where they are.and they’re the same men who probably flex that they have “obscure taste” for liking bands like carseat headrest

@bumb1e.b 1 year ago

… she’s been around for YEARS and had multiple songs go CRAZY on tiktok. She’s not an industry plant, she’s just FINALLY getting the acknowledgment she deserves. I love doechii and always have

@sossbaybe 1 year ago

yes i do think her being a woman plays a part in why people are quick to dismiss her talent, but it’s mainly her being a darkskinned black woman at that

It's so wild to me that when looking at the Best NEW Artist category for the Grammys, so many people were like, "They're industry plants, I've literally never heard of them, I had no clue who they were until 6 months ago." Like yes... they're all NEW artists? How do you expect to know every single new artist in the world? Especially in this day and age when literally millions of artists are posting music they've made in their bedrooms to Spotify, there's no possible way that you can be so vain to believe that you alone know every single new and upcoming artist.
