as a certified aussie i can confirm that huntsman spiders are entirely harmless and they are actually good company however they are pretty terrifying looking and the car crashing part is true

5:35 Fun fact! The creator of Perry the Platypus was thrilled when he found out about the glowing teal thing. He says he didn't pick that color for the character for any particular reason, he just liked it. Bonus fact 1. The creator of Perry also voices Dr Doofinshmirtz. Bonus fact 2. Ferb is short for Ferbs lol, they shortened a 5 letter name to 4 letters.

Main reason the funnel web is considered a kill on site spider is it's virtually blind, but when it does finally see you all it want's is blood, it's a rage virus spider who will happily go to whatever god it chooses to bite you repeatedly.

Huntsman though is misunderstood, he's the ugly duckling, no harm to you and really doesn't want to fight, but will pay rent as he should by removing every pest in it, more effective than a team of pest control guys.

25:50 Fun fact: Hippos technically can't swim. Their muscular bodies are dense enough that they sink to the bottom. Instead, they run/gallop across the river bottom and jump to the surface.

the reason cone snails have no antivenom is cause each one basically mixes its own unique cocktail from scratch. they're also known as cigarette snails cause if you're stung, that's all you'll have time for, and that proboscis can curve around to nail you from any angle, so you aren't even safe picking them up from behind

Poison: You bite it you die.
Venom: It bites you You die.
Voodoo: You or it bites each other and someone else dies

Gympie Gympie stings can last a long time, sometimes even years, but more often it’s just weeks or months. How long it lasts depends on how badly you’re stung, how quickly you get proper treatment, and any other health issues you might have. The pain isn’t at full intensity the whole time, either. The worst of it is usually in the first 24 hours. Doctors usually give you pain meds and focus on removing as many of the tiny, toxic hairs from your skin as possible.  After that, it’s mostly extreme sensitivity and random spikes of pain rather than nonstop torture.

If you're not allergic to its venom the only threatening part about a Huntsman is that you might get a heart attack when a dinner plate sized spider comes out from under your couch.
Fun fact about them: they are some of the most intelligent spiders. They're able to learn from observing their prey, their environment and they use that to form new complex hunting strategies and they get better at it with experience.
They're smart enough that some people were able to teach them simple tricks eg. come when called, do a pose on command, etc. And even though they are solitary, during mating season they do communicate with complex body language.
Also, unlike majority of spider species, male huntsmen usually aren't eaten after mating and will even sometimes bring food to the female as she's preparing to lay eggs.

50:27 Yep huntsman keep your house clear of any other spiders including the actually dangerous ones (and also don't have webs). Still not pleasant experience to wake up to see one on the wall next to your bed though

Nai: "I thought Anteaters where peaceful?!"

They are, usualy, but there is an old saying i am reminded of that fits well here: "Fear the wrath of the quiet patient man".
If you somehow manage to piss one off, RUN.

13:02 A thousand poison glass shards to the butt is insane💀💀💀

41:00 You need to get an aquarium with stronger glass to keep a mantis shrimp as they have been known to break normal aquariums.

the most effective way i've found to help my fear of spiders is watching documentary-style videos on YouTube. seeing them be so smart and efficient makes them more relatable and friendly, especially seeing how they interact with humans so curiously.

So "fun" fact
The tarantula hawk wasp is attributed to Darwin beginning to question the existence of God. As what sane deity would ever create such a horrific creature???

21:34 why was that ‘No’ so adorable?

I had a Huntsman run INTO my house as I was bringing my dog inside.

Since it was too high up my wall to try and catch, I just let it be. Haven't seen a pest since, apart from the flies that get in through the day, and I have an electric swatter to deal with those.

42:10 ooh that is a beautiful sound alert right there. I really hope someone clipped that "WTF?!". That was genuine horror 😂

3:50 There is a creature called a 'blue angel' or 'blue dragon' that is really pretty...and since it isn't a mammal or a bird, that usually means its deadly and this thing's no exception. Ironically, they're pretty docile and generally won't sting a human unless directly harmed...but they are also SO venomous that they can accidentally kill you. See, if they stung something recently the leftover venom on their skin can kill you.

The people holding the Blue Ringed Octopus are tourists who have no idea how dangerous that octopus can be.

Okay so something to be aware of is that Platypus and the 2 living species of Echidnas are the only Monotremes left that we know of. Monotremes are literally the earliest mammal groups still alive today, starting in the freaking Jurassic period. They sweat milk because they didn't develop nipples yet, they lay eggs because they are so early they predate a separate hole for solid disposal, mating and/or liquid disposal. Aka, they have a cloaca like Birds and Reptiles. Btw Birds are reptiles taxonomically, and Crocs are closer to bird than Lizards are.
Also Knuckles is to Echidnas as Charmy is to bees. Aka, they have the wrong face entirely. Knuckles would have a long, narrow beak and an anteater long tongue if he was accurate. Charmy has a mammal face and nose for no reason despite being a bee.
