How you say "Owl" is absolutely Adorable

25:14
Don’t mind me just putting the time stamp for ”U U L” (owl) here. Funniest sh%t I have heard all day!!!!! LMFAO!!!

You’re the first person I’ve seen to completely fail the Perception check on the tawny frogmouth. Almost everybody sees at least one of them, and a few even managed to make out both of them 😂

Between U U L and getting spooked by a job application, this is probably the best reaction so far

21:25 Peacock Spiders only live for a year total and only have a few months after they are mature enough to mate. Add in the fact that either one of them might be eaten by anything larger than a pen cap and they really don't have the time for a long courtship. They don't have a couple of decades to fuck around with courtship like humans do and, since dad is going to die shortly after mating, they don't need to know if he's husband material.

26:00 her attempt to say owl was the most adorable thing I've ever heard someone with an odd accent tried to do. This is why I love to mimic accents ong 😂😊

Okay so to clarify re: Fat Bear Week

It's not like a contest in the sense of 'who can feed the bear the fattest' it's more like bears doing their usual pre-hibernation routine, and we just watch them on trail cams and vote on the biggest bear before they take a nap for the winter.

This is however one of the more aggro times of year for bears since they're really trying to stock up for winter since, well... they won't eat again until spring.  So they're a lot less picky about what they eat in that time frame.

"Short jokes about myself" Great start Neila KEKW

32:08 it wasn't just 111,000 spiders that made the web, it was 111,000 of two different species of spiders that normally hate each other that came together to make that web

As an Aussie, I’m glad you like the Aussies you’ve seen, a lot of us are very crass and rude, so I’m glad you appreciate us lol

40:00 A lot of Americans know what a wallaby is because of a cartoon from the 90s. 'Rocko's Modern Life', its main character was one. I don't actually remember much about it, it was on the paid TV channels so I didn't see it very often but I do remember he was extremely unlucky and people constantly commented on him being short.

29:00 Dogs vision is similar to red-green colorblindness in humans. Instead of having 3 types of color-detecting cone cells in their eyes, they have 2. Red and green look nearly identical, but blue and yellow stand out. A lot of animals are like that. To many prey animals, a tiger will blend in to the green foliage.

Another interesting note is that there is another type of light detecting cell in the eye: rod cells. These don't differentiate color, but they are more sensitive, making them better in low-light conditions. Many animals, particularly nocturnal ones, will have a greater ratio of rod cells that us because nightvision is more useful to them than colorvision. There are plenty of animals with better nightvision than us, but limited color vision.

There are also animals with a wider variety of color detecting cells which let them see far more colors than we do.

Another fun fact about the Manchineel Tree is that you can't even burn it cause the toxins will become airborne and poison you and you can't bury it cause it will contaminate soil!

41:59 fun fact drugs have been proven to be almost exclusively used in depressed or at least generally unhappy organisms, the rat park experiment(both of them were required to make the connection) proved this, the first one had 1 alone rat with no toys/enrichment, only food and water as well as drug water, naturally the depressed friendless rat drank itself to death, the 2nd one many years later had multiple rats which had stuff to do and naturally the rats drank almost none of the drug water because they weren't depressed and friendless.

Pistol shrimp injuries to humans are rare but possible, typically from being stepped on or handled, causing painful wounds, punctures (especially from mantis shrimp), or bleeding from their powerful, fast strikes or tail spikes, not from the "bubble bullet" which is too small for significant harm but can deafen small fish; larger species (mantis shrimp) pose the biggest threat, potentially causing stitches or broken bones

8:59 that’s why we mark the trees so people know to stay away, especially if it rains.

48:45 These are wild bears, people aren't supposed to feed them at all, because bears associating people with food become very dangerous. But this is the time of year when bears are eating as much as they can to store up energy for the winter so they can hibernate without starving to death before spring

A dog's colour vision is muted, but they can still see colour.
Mantis shrimp have power fists, pistol shrimp have plasma cannons.😂
Wallabies are cute, but quokkas are cuter. They're half the size and they smile all the time. Plus they're pretty acclimatised to humans, so they're very friendly too.

23:23 A.R.G. It's an acronym for alternate reality game; you basically help/play the game by trying to figure out what's going on or something. 💀
33:53 no, that's the farmer man from the Shawn the Sheep franchise. Aardman also made Chicken Run & that traumatized me, too; Mr. & Ms. Tweedy were the 1st ever characters to be in my damn nightmares, lmao 😭

50:06 they do not feed the bears. That is illegal and is nor done. They DEVOUR berries, grubs, whatever game they can catch.. and absolutely FEAST on the returning salmon that make their way up to spawn. Very calorie dense salmon
