the beretta m9 had NO right to be here

"the gun's actually good it just has a bad rep" WHY is it here then

we've all fallen for immaculate clickbait

Starting fights today I see

Genuinely what does Cowball mean by this

Okay, putting the P92, UZI and G36 Up there is just straight up engagement bait, lol.

Considering how many of these were "beloved guns that are fine but frequently get used outside of their intended circumstances," I would be fascinated by a dedicated video of the inverse, bad guns that are actually good, or rather "widely hated gun that has an undeserved reputation because everyone used it wrong." There's certainly at least some historical examples of that, like soldiers taking enemy guns as trophies and then using the wrong ammo/parts for them and such, or stuff like a gun being designed for one purpose but being adopted for a different purpose that it sucked at. Or just a similar circumstance as the S&W 500 you mentioned, a gun that would do its job if people put in the right effort but they never do, if there's a similar example where the bad reputation happened to take over.

The thing you said about berettas cracking due to "inconsistent metallurgy" is litterally wrong, the cracking was caused by the usage of overloaded 9mm rounds (luger +P+)... Beretta even won a lawsuit against the fucking Navy Seals, also, the thing about "unreliable magazines" happened because the US governmend issued third party magazines that caused widespread malfunctions during the Iraq war

Beretta: use good quality Mec-Gar magazines and don't use +P+ ammo
US Army: buys (then) cheap Checkmate Inc. mags, uses 9mm +P+
Results: failure to feed due to bent mag feeding lips, cracked slides, M9 reputation unfairly tarnished

While the thermal drift of the G36 is a valid technical discussion, framing it as a "bad gun" and misrepresenting the numbers distorts what actually happened.
Here is a fact-check on the transcript's claims:
1. The "8% Trust" Myth
Claiming only 8% of German soldiers trusted their rifle is completely out of context. In the official 2015 ZMSBw survey of Afghanistan combat veterans, over 90% of soldiers stated they had full confidence in the G36's reliability and combat accuracy. The single-digit figure comes from a hyper-specific survey question regarding extreme laboratory continuous full-auto scenarios, not real-world combat sentiment.
2. The "50 cm Deviation at 100 meters" Claim
This extreme deviation was generated during the controversial 2014 Ernst-Mach-Institute stress tests, where multiple full magazines were dumped back-to-back on full-auto until the housing reached over 100°C. In standard operational use—firing controlled semi-automatic shots and short bursts—the point of impact shift was negligible. Even the German Federal Court of Justice (BGH) ruled in favor of Heckler & Koch in 2016, confirming the rifle fully met the 1993 specifications ordered by the Ministry of Defense.
3. "Heat never caused a jam"
The transcript briefly glosses over H&K's defense, but this is the crucial point: the G36 never stopped cycling. Its short-stroke gas piston system kept carbon build-up out of the receiver, making it virtually immune to dirt, sand, and mud. Calling a rifle "bad" when even its harshest critics admit it runs with zero jams in adverse conditions makes no sense.
4. "Far more reliable infantry rifles already existed"
When adopted in 1997, the G36 set a new benchmark. The M4/M16 platform was still suffering from direct-impingement fouling issues in harsh environments, the British SA80 A1 was notoriously unreliable, and legacy platforms lacked the G36's low weight and integrated optics.
Is the polymer housing prone to thermal drift under continuous full-auto fire? Yes—and that is a fair critique for an assault rifle forced into a light-machine-gun role in Afghanistan ambushes. But calling a rifle that served reliably for two decades with nearly zero jams a "bad gun" is just sensationalist clickbait.

Ian McCollum is coming for you boy, don't speak bad on the FAMAS name

The fact that most widespread information about the Beretta M9's slides cracking even to this day is incorrect, even in this video, speaks to the amount of damage it did to the Beretta 92's credibility and Beretta as a whole. What cracked the slide on the original M9, cracked the frame on the Sig Sauer P226. That culprit was in fact NOT a design flaw or a bad batch on/of either of the pistols NOR 'hot overpressured +P+ SMG' ammo. It was the very first, experimental M882 ball ammunition, made by Winchester, that was being fired from both pistols. The batch of ammo that they were using to test both the pistols had a manufacturing defect. Beretta then sued the US government, won, and made them pay for the retrofitting of the slide catch.

Why does it feel that the majority of those cases can be boiled down to "I want this weapon to perform a function that it was clearly not meant to do" .

1:10 I didnt know people bought the Desert Eagle for self defence

Don't slander my goat G36 i could say the exact same thing you said about the Beretta 😭🙏🏽

The UZI is not counter intuitive to reload; the magazine goes to the bottom of the hand that holds the grip. Yes, it’s old and heavy and un-ergonomic. So are M1 Garands, yet plenty of people still collect and use those.

rest up, you cant Chop without sharpening the axe

Videos made up of what you like rather than what's actually good or bad. Nicely done.

4:40 The "I don`t need that finger anyway" grip technique.

Wishing you a speedy recovery mate

By your own standards there are two glaring misses from this list...

The M14. Looks cool, if often used as a drill rifle and has been redeemed by the Ruger Mini-14 and as a modern DMR (so long as the barrel doesn't get hot) was a poor battle rifle. In fact the Italians did a far better job when they simply modified M1s to take magazines post war.

The other being the M16. If you're pounding on the Beretta for a faulty batch and other weapons for being picky about their ammo then what happened in Vietnam and the M16 jamming and actively getting a LOT of people killed in combat should not go unaddressed.

6:18 its arguably a MORE ergonomic design to have the magazine feed into the grip like a pistol would, since your hands are coordinating pretty much next to each other
