I will forever imagine his voice to John Candy due to Heavy Metal movie.

I well remember Den from my youth, it was a breath of fresh air, complete fantasy set in a mad world. Corben was brilliant.

Loved Corben, one of my favorites from Heavy Metal magazine.

Saw his original books back in the nineties when computer coloring was all the rage. His work put 90% of that work to shame.

Oh the John Candy bit from the movie?

Hearing his voice for a character being in awe of their own penis was . . . surreal 😮

4:29 The John Carter stories are framed around a man reading his uncles journals so that’s a kinda cool link.  Also the nudity was present in the Barsoom stuff, in print, but no adaption was brave enough to show it that way in images or comics.  So the Den stories are also playing more homage there

I enjoyed those comics back in the 70's. What can you say, Corben knew his audience.

I watched the uncensored version on Patreon yesterday and clicked on the YouTube version to see what had to be censored. Pretty much what I expected. Glad I got to see the intended version. Well worth signing up for the Patreon.

The colouring and shading was always amazing to me, they looked carved.

Fell in love with Corben for the work he did for Last Gasp Press. Titles like Fantagor, Slow Death, Fever Dreams and Skull comics were both great art and great story telling.

Wow,  I always loved Den.

The 13 year old me still loves Den

As a young comic geek, discovering Heavy Metal was a game changer, a peek into a wild world of comics beyond the superhero stuff.
Corbin was a big part of that.
It was the kind of pulpy fantasy I liked, but full of naked people, insane creatures and an art style like nothing else on the shelves.

Corbens art looks like early cg, in an impressive way, the contours and shading are incredible, it's uncanny

To see a Den comic in an issue of Heavy Metal meant I could turn off my edgy-brain and just enjoy a gorgeous story. Corben has always been one of my favorites.
Great video tribute!

Upvote from me : Richard Corben (1940-2020) RIP - I have got most of his main Fantagor Press material, incl. most of his original DEN works ! 👍👌

Oh, Hell, yeah!

Excellent job.  It's impossible for Corben not to be among the most important artists ever to have lived. Absolutely consider him a true top master of comics 😂❤

Loved his artwork growing up as a teenager. He was one of my early artistic influences.

As a kid (I was like 13) I would visit my grandmother (I called her a much more affectionate name than "grandmother" but it ain't metal and it ain't cool so grown up me is way too self conscious to say, spell or acknowledge it) in La Habra Heights CA and she would take me to the legendary Comic Castle in Fullerton where Rob Leifeld bought his comics, anyway I got along well with the owner even though I was a way geekier, more awkward and hadn't been transformed into a hard Master of Absolute Darkness yet by Slayer yet. To the extent I was allowed to access the Adults Only shelves where I discovered today's subject. I was already aware of Corben from Heavy Metal and Epic Illustrated but this was the first full color complete collection of Den who was adolescent power fantasy cat nip of the highest order. I got my "grandmother" to buy it for me and the whole time Rick (Comic Castle owner) is ringing it up he's giving me the look of amused appreciation at the multi level subversion I was pulling off. By the next summer I would have her drop me off at R rated movies like Aliens and Full Metal Jacket. As I departed the car she was all "call me from the pay phone if they won't admit you" . I responded "Oh I'm getting in there one-way or another." And I always did. Damn. It's almost like I was happier prior to the all consuming darkness 😳😟🤔🤔😣😂🤣🤣
