i think the mindset of saying that you peaked at 17 is VERY detrimental, maybe try reframing it as “winning the lottery” at 17 instead? You’re still the same purpled that made it ONTO the dream smp. you obv have the talent to make strides in the space!
You had a moment of extreme growth out of nowhere and then it vanished (same). That doesn’t mean you’re any less of a person, your content was just hot at the perfect time. Times will always change, you just have to be ready to take advantage of the next one!
i didn't get near the peak that you or any of the dsmp members did, but relatable as fuck to fully feel like you peaked in 2020 and nothing you ever do will ever really get to that point ever again
You also have to take into account that a lot of your audience is also growing older- im roughly the same age as you and life definitely gets in the way from being able to binge watch a stream, please don't interpret lower viewership as people loosing interest- many of us still love what you do, and it means a lot that your content is maturing with us instead of leaving us behind. Coming home after a busy day and seeing purpled posted a new video or competed in some Minecraft comp or something is genuinely so awesome, I just get to sit down eat a snack and watch and its great. I don't think you peaked at 17. Those numbers were just a fleeting trend not a measure of your worth. Thanks for everything king <3
It's just so impressive that you posted this man. Most people wouldn't want to admit that they feel insufficient or disappointed with themselves, especially on a public platform. Your situation is obviously very different than mine, but I really relate to those feelings and honestly it's nice to hear someone else feel the same way. I really admire you and I'm glad you made it through that experience. Thanks for being so genuine
such a valid experience man, definitely a LOT of people in the same boat as you but wouldn’t speak about it out of not wanting to speak it out loud into the world good on u mate
2:31 sounds like you're talking about the anchor effect, if you want the psych term! it is a heuristic people often use when dealing with numbers where one number acts as an "anchor," having disproportionate effect on the way you interpret other numbers related to the topic. it is often used to talk about how the first stat someone sees on something political will continue to be their metric for interpreting other data in that category, even if it is later proven to be false, but it doesn't always have to be the first number that is most impactful.
Every content creator talk about it like normal people talk about high school lol
it's always: Did I peak? That one teacher was kinda weird That one guy was super weird he in jail now Man I miss that one cool guy I wonder what he is doing now Man that whole thing really sucked What Am I supposed to do do whit my life now??? That funny guy in my class now has heavy depression
Hiya. I'm in my 40's, so, I know you from MCC, and I know nothing about Dream SMP really. But I am fascinated by the subject of its effect, and similar things. For what it's worth, I'd like to say this: You'll just continue getting cooler as you get older, and eventually you may find that you've naturally detached from this way of thinking that attacks yourself. Look forward to it. It takes time. But you are never less than you were before, and you never will be.
I'm glad you made this video bro. I think it's a great step in the right direction of acceptance and being able to move on mentally from these feelings. I've had many of the same thoughts over the past 3 or 4 years (on a smaller scale of course) and it was super comforting to hear I'm not alone in that. Hope you're doing well bro, always have so much love for you and am grateful for the time we spent together when we were younger <3
I'm someone who only met or even knew of you through block wars (I'm in the variety bubble), and you were straight up one of the most fun teammates I've had. It isn't much but I just wanted to mention that! Our team was fun as hell and I've thought to check back in here and there, as I am right now. What you're talking about here is VERY valid, and variety streamers tend to go through this on a smaller scale but more often - we play a game for a month that gets new people interested, and then the next month they've cycled out because we're on a new arc and those folks didn't really stick to us - they only like the content we were doing in the groups we were with. All I can say is just know that it's more human nature than a conscious choice of anyone to not be still interested, and a lot of this is forced by various algos more than anyone actively saying to themselves "yeah I don't want to watch X person anymore". In the end you've got a really good community, your chat is funny, and those who actively watch do seem to really care. You've got a really strong core audience and that's something that not everyone has.
Doubt you'll see this but here i go. Purpled i've been watching you since I was 12 years old and you had <1,000 subscribers, and as of next month i'm turning 19 years old. I've seen you grow into this absolute massive influencer that you are now and along the way even though i don't know you personally, it's been no secret that there have been both bright and dark times for you and that spark i originally subscribed for. You're a human dude and while nobdody is entitled to any support from anyone else in terms of the social media scene i think it's completely fair to say that you're entitled to feel and handle the mental aspect of being a content creator however you'd like. While I originally subscribed and supported you for your bedwars content, it was never the game that made you the creator I watched it was your personality, i could just go play bedwars like it's not exclusive to you, and while in theory you'd think that means i'll watch you play anything, the harsh reality is that's just not the case. I'd be lying if I said I've watched every stream, and every game you've played, in fact i haven't tuned in consistently for a while but that doesn't mean i see you as any less yk? The numbers can definitely be demotivating because psychologically the ranked 1/10 on youtube has a different type of rush that no other feeling can give you once you've experienced it and slowly but surely you just become an absolute machine when you're making content and while it's super unhealthy it's an experience that not many people get to experience in their entire life so you feel like you need to commit to it lol. I see where you're coming from and it's been nice going through and catching up on all the content i've missed, i think that you should work on adapting to a new mindset for this content scene which is easier said than done as it's your full time job but i think that's more important than trying to please everyone considering you clearly do have loyal fans regardless of what you decide to do. I think this new channel you got going on is sick and sometimes all people need is someone to watch while eating breakfast instead of someone to keep their attention span for 37 minutes. You've made an undeniable impact on all 1 million of those subscribers don't deny that, you aren't just a member of that smp you are a talented guy who just happened to be invited to it, they're seperate things.
