My total budget was 60K for everything. THIS is how low you can go travelling offgrid with ALL new gear and still be rooly comfy. 35K for Musso Adventure (undriven demonstrator) plus factory towbar and brake controller, after market Anderson plug, roller shutter for tray and level hitch was another 4K. MDC Explorer camper trailer (on spesh) for 17K and 2K worth of Joolca stuff and a 12v 24" TV. The shower is awesome and the 300L hot tub is for when life isn't surreal enough. Job done and all fit for offgrid porpoises : )
I note you are towing with a DMax with a GCM of 6T.
If your current van has a 3T ATM, which it should, your Dmax can weigh upto 3T as well.
I'm guessing you went overweight on your rear axle as I did with my 2025 BT50. After ditching the heavy removeable canopy for a much lighter half canopy and bolting in 2 pelican trunks to the rear of the tray, I had my weights down pat.
Mind you, we had a 19FT Crusader Camelot with 600ah batteries and 880W of solar, 300L water capacity, full bathroom we were at about 2950 in the van.
The perfect combination.
We have since decided to buy a bigger van with a Ranger Superduty which is also the perfect combination.
I do wish you had done some more research on the van you chose because I am quite certain you would have found a Dreamhaven by Crusader. Full composite and substantial options to choose from.
If you don't agree with the things ....just find another one to fill your time.
