What started as an incredible adventure on Maria Island quickly turned upside down! With dangerous ocean swells and severe weather rolling in, all ferry services were suddenly cancelled and we were told to evacuate the island immediately.

We're Tim, Sandy & Pablo, travelling Australia in our self-built Sprinter van as we tackle the Big Lap, one adventure at a time. 🚐🇦🇺

Oh dear what a disappointment not being able to enjoy fabulous Maria Island even with my mobility issues I loved my time on Maria. Darlington and the animals are amazing.

Oh, what a shame about Maria Is. ☹️ never mind, like you say, you can go back another time. The Botanical Gardens looked amazing, so much to see and such a variety of different areas. That subantarctic plant one was cool, literally 😂😂 bet Pablo was glad he was inside somewhere warm 🐶😃😃❤️❤️

Fun fact - I've worked in cold storage for 17 years and going from cold to hot and vice versa doesn't actually make you sick.
I can go from minus 21 (freezer) to outside in summer 30 plus degrees. I get frozen or frosted over eyeballs lol but I have never actually got sick from it. If you get sick it will be because someone around you had a virus.

No idea where you guy's are currently. But wynyard tulip festival on Saturday . Also orchid show but weather isn't going to be great .but light house tour at table cape worth a look in😊

Pity about the island but the Botanic Gardens are not a bad alternative. It's nice also without too many humans. Back in 2005 the vegetable gardens were still in use for the ABC's Gardening show. In a way it's sad to see it not in use. The Kiosk hasn't changed 😪. Glad you enjoyed it and that Pablo would have been somewhere warm and cozy

Wonder why they pronounce it "Mariah" (as in Mariah Carey) island when it is actually spelt "Maria" (as in the Italian ladies name). I have watched several Youtube videos on this island and everyone calls it "Mariah"
