3 years living in a caravan... this is worth the money (to me)

After living full-time in our caravan for almost 3 years and travelling all over Australia, alot of it off-grid - we definitely worked out what was worth spending money on… and what wasn't. 😂

If I was buying another caravan tomorrow, these are the things I'd happily pay for all over again. From the little luxuries to the things that made everyday van life SO much easier.

Come have a chat with me about what I'd buy again, what I'd skip, and what we learned after nearly three years on the road. 🚐✨

Hi Donna, Airly is such a lovely place to live hope the children have settled in well. We are 4.5 yrs fulltime travelling. We did the first half doing the Cape, Savannah way, Kimberly, Barossa & remote areas of Aus, etc., now we have a new van and are slow travelling. We can go off-grid for extended periods of time. We change it up and cruise in between; we just park up the van. Our home is rented out, and we plan to be home in around 2 yrs time. We have Jayco Silverlines and are extremely happy. We replaced our bed and travel lite, we still have our Ram and love it. I rarely use the oven; my air fryer is constantly used. The washing machine is a must. Lithium is a must; every power point is connected. Starlink, also the coffee machine, as we are coffee snobs. You learn so much when you first start. My advice for newbies is to go light and have a reliable tow vehicle. Everyone is different if we were to do it all over and plan to do the rough areas, I'd buy a second-hand van that red dirt never cleans up. That shiny new thing gets pretty old fast after all your just dragging around a white box.

Hi Donna thank you for good advice. Something I came across was that the caravan parks insurance only covers 10yr old and younger aged caravans and mobile homes. When older than 10 yrs some caravan parks will not let you stay. They can't afford to pay out if sued or natural disasters. So my advice is if you can buy a newer van now because of the age of your van you would still get good money for it as it's under 10 yrs old.
