With the gay best friend trope, what bothers me even more is when they're usually potrayed as sassy guys who "tells it like it is" and then basically just point out people's insecurities. Not only does it paint a picture in the heads of straight people, but it also kinda normalises the idea of gay men being mean and catty, and then you get gay men who actually do act like that but get away with it cuz of the stereotype. A lot of gay men who act like the trope are also just low-key mysoginistic

Sometimes, people think that all of us aces are sex-repulsed, and then they  apologise for mentioning sex. I myself can discuss sex and kink stuff really casually, because I look at it from an objective point of view. It's just an activity!

HEAVY ON THE BI THING!!! I feel like this happens even more often with pansexual characters in people's ocs idk it pisses me off

The gay best friend trope is just a replacement of the black friend trope, which is an evolution of the servant/slave companion. Knights with their squires, kings and their jesters, aristocrats and butlers, businessmen and secretaries, housewives and their nannies, the high school MC and their gay best friend, the list goes on. Almost all of these roles feature affluent white people with someone socially below them that can provide an outsider's advice or special service to further their goals.

The "gay best friend" trope feels very stereotyping and objectifying as well. Its like "the black best friend" or "the disabled best friend" like....nasty

Im just tired of stereotypes in general like bruh... why cant we just see a queer person as a person and not try to assign any traits to them based on that?
All queerness does is define who they are attracted to or who they identify as. End of story 😢

The soft/shy trans femme trope gets on my nerves , yes there are shy trans femmes irl but they arent the only ones to exist . The whole point to transitioning is confidence,  so why is it we barely get an confident trans woman / femmes who already are comfortable in themselves ?

Aroace people don't even have mainstream stereotypes because we don't have any representation except for weak headcannon on nonchalant characters (saiki) that is deeply preserved by the aroace community. Man, i just want one female character that doesn't have any romantic tension with anyone is that really too much to ask. Why does everything has to have romance in it i'm so tired.

As ace I despise idea that we cant love romantically. We can‼️ Not all ace people are aroace. I have been in realitionship, had crushes, held hands and kissed. I just don't want things to get "spicy". Thats all. I hate how many realitionships have this type of thing as sooo important to them

one thing that has always made me feel uncomfortable is when asexual headcanons are only given to children, SA survivors or people in a situation where their love life is compromised by either circumstances or someone else,

On the topic of infantilizing ace people, another thing I hate is when they assume that all ace people don’t have any knowledge of sex because they’re ace! We’re not children, and even the most sex-repulsed ace people usually know about it, because otherwise they wouldn’t have been able to realize that they were asexual without at least knowing what sex is in the first place. It drives me nuts!!

Hey so fun fact, I heard someone in the House MD writing team wanted House to be wrong about curing asexuality but someone in a higher place was like "No no, after all this time House can not be wrong ever again"

I fully believe the 'mean lesbian' stereotype is why a lot of mlm fans are super hostile towards wlw fans, especially in fandom spaces. Whenever a wlw fan says 'man I wish there was more f/f on ao3' suddenly a hoard of m/m fans will act super salty and say "You're lazy! You gotta write it yourself! But you won't because f/f fans are all lazy and hate m/m fans for no reason! You're not entitled to free work omg this is why no one likes you!" Just projecting that someone who likes sapphic stories and wants more MUST be a lazy mean lesbian who harasses the poor straight and bi female m/m fans.

7:16 ah yes, British, the queerest of all.

Another stereotype I know ‘bout bisexuals (as a bi girl) is that this sexuality is used as an excuse to say: “Before u were straight, now u finally became gay”, like being straight was just a phase and bisexuality is used to make the gay/lesbian main character happy

I agree with all of those 100%, but I'd like to point out the ace one in particular. One thing that I noticed is another trope concerning us that I really don't like, and it's pretty similar to the one you brought up. That trope is when the ace character is an alien/robot (or not a human in general), it hits the same broad lines of being "broken", and also IMO it's very depersonalizing, because a lot of representation of ace people not being human pushes the idea that being ace isn't normal for humans. I've also noticed this trope also applies to non binary and aro people

9:57 But he and other characters give rise to a new stereotype: asexual people are cold, serious, passionate about their work, often with problems expressing emotions. And this trope seems to be about as common as the asexual nerd who is uninterested in anything outside of his field of work.

i’m aroace, i mentioned to a coworker that im not interested in romantic or sexual relationships, and was immediately hit with the “girllll you just haven’t found the right one yet, you’re just so innocent and pure!” :|

I'm not even ace and that House episode pissed me off.

On the mean lesbian archetype and speaking as a lesbian myself i feel a big reason of why it exists is because of mysoginy and the refusal of society to accept that a woman could ever not be interested in men as a whole, so on the one hand you have the people who write the mean lesbian archetype as a way to imply lesbians are evil or wrong and then, on the other hand, the people who write the mean lesbian archtype because a lot of the time it's the only way to get the point across that the character Does Not Like Men.

The latter case specially pisses me off because of how often I see it into play. One example that comes to mind immediately is Alien Stage, where the main character, Mizi, is a lesbian, yet because she was nice to the men around her a lot of people insisted she was actually bi even though she has never been shown to like any men romantically. It took various comics where Mizi expressed disgust at the idea of being with a man and her being the slightest bit mean to a guy who had a crush on her for people to get the point across (and some people still deny it!). Meanwhile, her girlfriend Sua is constantly characterized acting mean towards the men around her and lo and behold: no one argues against her being a lesbian.

Honestly this is why I personally don't care about the archtype because man, I too feel like being mean and aggressive every time being nice means I get my identity denied, stop assuming me being a decent human being means I have to be interested in men
