The Slayers mark is directly coming from the Dark Lord, because the Divinity Machine was made from a part of his essence. The Dark Lord also has this symbol on his back.
But as the father had slain him, he tried to destroy all memory of him as he could not destroy his essence. So nobody knew what the symbol actually meant. It became a symbol of power and rage that keeps the Slayer going. (all info from the Eternal DLC)

Theory here: I believe that every time the symbol appear, the Dark Lord intervenes. Pushing the Slayer to break free, to wake up and to keep going. His plan was for the Slayer to kill everyone until he destroyed the Maykrs.

I believe during the campaign DLC, we see Valen betray everyone, and the DOOM Slayer gets sealed away, but that's just my speculation.

Channels like this that go through the lore video games just shows the desire people have for these stories

I think Davoth made the maykrs from something from the Cosmic Realm. The maykrs eventually go through transfiguration, and look more Cthulhu like. When Kahn maykr is killed, it makes the most sense that the mysterious voice that yells is from the cosmic realm.

I'm pretty sure Hebeth is just the sentinel name for Mars. The city we see in TDA seems to be much newer and is very clearly on the planet’s surface and not the core. So, the lost city must be a separate location hidden underground. Otherwise, why would the slayer have to shoot a hole in Mars to get there?

Doom lore is underappreciated, and I love this video.

Honestly, I'm surprised Dark Ages told the story it did. I mainly expected it to be the game that just led to 2016. Instead, they fleshed things out more, and i appreciate the game for that.

I wonder if we're going to see the actual transition to 2016 in the DLC or if they're going to explore stuff further like the Cosmic Realm and Thira further.

Fun fact: Doom: The Dark Ages takes place during the Unholy Wars, where he led the night sentinels against Hell, which was eons (billions of years) before Doom 2016. At least 2 billion to be exact. These wars ended in the Betrayal, where Valen betrayed the Argenta by granting Deag Grav access to the Sephulcer of Elements, and the wraiths within, the near extinction of the Argenta race, the scouring of the night sentinel army, where they would fight to the very last man, and the sealing of the Slayer in the sarcophagus for the aforementioned 2 billion or so years until he is freed in the beginning of 2016. The only thing is it isnt entirely known just when in the unholy wars this game takes place.

Out of all the evil that hell can produce, all the wickedness that mankind can produce, we send unto them only you, RIP AND TEAR until it is done.

This game is amazing, when the prince killed serrat, even I was pissed off lmao

Im hoping with the introduction of the new realm that they’re slowly building up to a Quake game.

@jayboi7063 1 year ago

I think the thing Samuel said was the key, “the lost city”… probably an older city that was buried before the new one was built on top (think Atlantis) to seal away such a portal and hide its memory. At least that is what I’ll believe

@Emiliano88888 1 year ago

I was so sad when Serrat got killed

@Bubba1025 1 year ago

I really think it’s on brand for the best idea a literal prince of hell could come up with to deal with the slayer is basically just ignore him 😂

@andrewtimothy1937 3 months ago

One of the things i live about the Doom lore is that all those powerups in game you get to use; yeah thats just how the slayer is NORMALLY. But of course its a video game so the devs turn them into powerups.
But i just love that the Slayer is always fast and always strong and thats why the demons fear him

@Nicolai9933 1 year ago

I would also be very pissed if they killed my pet

The Mark of the Slayer is the Symbol of Davoth, the first known being and creator of Urdak and Hell.

The Slayer is imbued with Davoth's power and that's why it's associated with him.
