Shaved my head at 14 to donate. Got a lot of harassment by ADULTS, creepy men following me and one woman loudly asking in a store if I had cancer. People care too much about others looks. I went on to shave 2 more times before taking a break

Don't forget that women go through menopause and lots of those women have significant hair thinning, which necessitates cutting our hair shorter.

Shorter hair is also so much more manageable for those of us suffering from joint pain, mobility issues, arthritis, etc. It’s a major reason why older adults tend to opt for shorter cuts.

A ton of pictures of women labelled as having "mom hair" in the video were still hot. In some cases the shorter hair was actually more flattering. I feel like men are just trying to play on our fears. It's mind boggling to me how many straight men don't seem to actually like women or find them attractive.

I’m an African American woman. I like my hair cut really low into a fade. My 6 year old nephews said that my haircut was “for boys” these beliefs and gender norms are taught basically out of the womb.

As a straight guy growing up media was very crucial in pushing narratives about hair. If a woman had short hair it was labeled as “She’s tough or mean” and if a man had long hair it was a sign of “Soft and weak”

So when people say hair isn’t political. They refuse to look into the history of it.
