ALBUM OF THE DECADE

@jcim2003 7 months ago

This is the only one album I'm hearing along the last four months, can't hear any other thing. It's an obsession.

@markus129 7 months ago

The most beutifull álbum i've ever heard

Great review. It's a masterpiece and a work of art. It sits on its own.

Focu Ranni has very personal lyrics, it talks about how she was going to marry her ex ("I was going to wear white") but something happened and they broke up, so she's proud of gaining her freedom back and even though she tatooed his initials (she literally did) he never really governed her heart. The sicilian part talks about Santa Rosalia de Palermo (a Sicilian saint) who was also meant to get married but decided to give that up and follow God instead.
Jeanne is all about Jean of Arc and how she was burnt alive when she was 19 by the english after she helped the french army in the 100 years war. It talks about defiance, and commitment to God in the moments leading up to her death.
All of the explanation for her lyrics are on GENIUS but on the Original version (Spanish) not on the translated versions, you just have to translate using google translate from there.

"i wanted to wear white" in Spain means to get married, Great Reaction ,thanks 💙

❤❤❤❤. Beautiful reaction. I really liked your analysis. This is a thought record to react because there’s a lot going on. FYI: You missed the little joke at the end of Mio Christo.

This is how an album starts and ends! The use of many different languages comes from the inspirations of those songs, inspired on religious or mystical women, except for catalan, her mother language, and Portuguese who is the only song not wroten by Rosalía, it's a fado and she asked to carminho to include memorias in Lux, probably the Spanish part has been wrote by Rosalía but honestly I don't know, Mundó Nuevo it's also a cover of La Niña de los Peines' song, a flamenco one.
About the inspirations behind songs all are amazing but to me specially those behind Porcelana, De Madrugá and of course La Yugular, absolutely insane histories

In Genius you have a lot of info about the story and what inspired every song! In the Spanish version of the page has a lot lot lot more and you can translate them. She did such a great research for this album!!!!! Only ONE YEAR for writting the lyrics!!

"I'm totally obsessed with this album! Love how you deep dived into the lyrics. according to Rosalía, Jeanne is about Jeanne of Arc's story – she had a revelation from an angel who told her to take up arms to fight for France, and she ended up burned at the stake for heresy. That's why the song uses Spanish, Rosalía's language, and French, Joan of Arc's. Also, 'Porcelana' is about a Japanese saint who wanted to enter a convent but wasn't allowed because her beauty might distract the other nuns. So she decided to burn her face off to get in, showing how committed she was to her faith, just like Rosalía is to music. That's why you can see her wearing a habit like nuns do on the album cover. Every song is based on a saint's story, but it's not about just telling their story, but more about singing through them, except for 'Legend', which is a bit more descriptive

Great review. Thank you for taking your time and listening all the way through. I’ve watched many reactions and your might be the best for Lux. It was genuinely a masterpiece with genius level, music, singing writing, and storytelling. So I appreciated your well thought and throughly explained responses.

The page crumpling in reliquia is the sound of the orchestra turning their pages too

Rosalia es 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

51:14 That song jumped straight into the next one (as many others in Lux) that's why it feels like ending abruptly. Next time I recommend you listen to the whole album on Spotify or similar so that you get to enjoy the transitions 🫶🏼💗 Love from Spain. I loved your reaction 💗💗

The physical version of 'Dios Es Un Stalker' is DIFFERENT!!! It has a different instrumental, is more high pitch and have an extra verse that become viral before the release of the album because Rosalía spoiled that part in a interview!!!!
