Neil was still playing three-hour sets at that level while on tour in his 60s. What a fucking treasure he was. RIP Professor Peart.

The son of one of prog rock's greatest drummers learning a song by another of prog rock's greatest drummers -- this is a perfect example of why I love this channel so much.

You can never have enough Rush on this channel

His father would be proud, Neil would be proud. Amazing drummer.

This video made me cry a few times for several reasons. One was that Neil loved Phil Collin’s and appreciated and was inspired by his drumming so much, and now to see Phil’s son playing and appreciating Neil’s drumming- a very touching full circle moment. AND the fact that Nic killed it! AND just crying because of how amazing Rush and Neil are. I loved this so much, thank you!

Why is Nic always the one to go through hell

When I saw the description, I thought he was going to learn Overture.  You made the man learn the entire side of the album?!

(Neil Peart on Phil Collins)
By Neil Peart, Rhythm, April 2011

"Phil Collins was an enormous influence on my drumming in the '70s, and thus remains a part of my playing even today. His recorded drum parts with Genesis and Brand X in those years were technically accomplished, yet so musical - even lyrical. His rhythmic patterns were woven into the intricacy of the music, while lending a smooth, fluid pulse to the songs and extended instrumentals. His fills were imaginative and exciting, alive with energy and variety, while the refined technique was always in the service of the music. Even within those fills, Phil applied a jazz drummer's sense of dynamics, which also guided his ensemble playing, and inspired me to try to incorporate that sensibility into my own triple-f approach.

Plus, his drums sounded so good. Good-sounding drums are always the result of a good-sounding drummer, and speak of the player's touch. Phil's combination of that quality and the natural drive of his playing produced truly melodic-sounding drum parts - flowing and musical. One outstanding piece of work that reflected all of those qualities was the Genesis album Selling England By The Pound, from '73. In the summer of '74, just before I joined Rush, I attended one of the shows on that tour (at the Century Theater, Buffalo, New York), and it was simply a galvanising performance, by him and all of that excellent band. The music from that night's show echoed in my head long after, while Phil's vocal performance on 'More Fool Me', was a harbinger of a whole other career to come."

When he gets into the zone and gently looks up while grooving, he looks exactly like his dad drumming.❤️

Mad respect! Learning one of Neil peart's most difficult and longest drum songs in a couple of hours!

Nic Collins…good lord. Drumeo putting in the work to show that he’s not a nepo baby and absolutely earned his spot.

Nic seems like he's a really great guy who isn't just riding on his famous heritage but truly loves the drums and is a student of the instrument. That was impressive and fun and it makes me like him even more, and I say this as a huge Rush, Genesis and Phil Collins fan. Well done, Nic!

This is one of the most impressive things I've seen done on this channel honestly.
2112 parts in isolation might not be super complicated. But to learn all of the album in less than 3 hours... Jesus

Anika said writing down the charts is a waste of time on Rush songs lol. Nic basically said the same thing.

Neil Pearts drumming is so much more impressive when you can see someone attempt to play it and with multi HD cameras on it. I could watch a hundred of these videos.

Nic is an absolute legend. 🤘🏻

So very impressive, Nic!  To learn any Neil Peart part is challenging, but "2112" in under three hours?  That was a joy to witness.  Thank you Nic Collins and the crew at Drumeo to even dream this could be done.

Bro, I remember being 17 and finally learning how to play 'The Overture' and 'Temple,' and the look of pride on my dad's face made that one of the best moments in my life.

As a 57 year old Canadian who grew up with Rush....they would be proud, especially Neil if he's listening from above...I'm sure he is!!  Phil gave his son an incredible gift!! Excellent
